Limusa and representatives of the White and Blue Steps finalize the details of the special sanding for the processions, whose operation includes the location of 900 tons of gravel (27/03/2019)

The City Council establishes a particular operation to carry out these tasks, which gathers the experience of the processionists.

It will have the participation of operators of the municipal company and extensive deployment of machinery.

The delegate councilor of Limusa, Juan Francisco Martínez, has held this morning a working meeting in which technical personnel of the municipal company participated along with representatives of the White and Blue Steps, in order to finalize the details regarding the tasks of sanded of the different enclaves of the city through which they pass and prepare our Parades Biblical-Passional of Holy Week.

According to the planned, the firm of Avenida Juan Carlos I, as well as the popular high school, will count this year with 900 tons a specific mixture of sand, artificial gravel and gravel to ensure the correct development of the biblical passional parades of the Semana Santa Lorca, in which horses are one of the most prominent elements.

The sand that is printed on the asphalt in which the Passional Biblical processions take place is a specific mixture of 3 different limestone substances that have granulometries ranging from 0 to 10 millimeters, and which is exclusively made for this purpose.

The imposition of the gravel covering the paved roads to facilitate the passage of different groups of cavalry will begin to apply late on the night of Serenade Thursday, with the aim of being ready during the early hours of Friday of Dolores.

The works contemplate the sanding of Avenida Juan Carlos I, from Ovalo to Huerto Ruano.

For the execution of these works will be used a loader, 4 trucks and a tractor to match and distribute the sand well.

In total, approximately 550 tons and about 6 hours of work.

Juan Francisco Martínez has anticipated that Limusa has prevented a special operation for the set-up of the sanding in case it is necessary to replenish the firm.

It is a device that will intervene after the processions of Viernes de Dolores and Domingo de Ramos, in case the race needs it, and depending on factors such as weather or the state of the gravel after the passage of the different processional groups .

The Edil de Limusa has said that the next performance will be held on Holy Wednesday night, a day in which another 350 tons of material will be applied with the help of specialized machinery that includes a loader, 4 trucks and a tractor.

That night the sanding will be extended, including the sections corresponding to the surroundings of the Oval, Poeta Gimeno Castellar street, the stretch between the Santo Domingo church and the Óvalo, Lope Gisbert, Poet Carlos Mellado at its confluence with Plaza de Colón, as well as the unevenness of the confluence between Lope Gisbert and the slope of San Francisco, with the aim of softening the unevenness of the road and accommodating the stay of the horses.

The main race will also be reviewed.

During the morning of Good Friday, on the part of Limusa it is foreseen to review the two races and to replace part of the zahorra that is lost by the passage of the groups of procession and the habitual traffic, in agreement with the experience of previous years.

The artificial gravel will be removed during the early hours of Saturday of Gloria, requiring for it 4 loaders, 8 trucks, a mini excavator and a tractor with a trajillla specifically manufactured for this work.

This tool has an exclusive design with an identical shape to the unevenness of the curbs of Lope Gisbert Street, which allows cleaning efficiently above the granite of the street and streamline the work of the operators.

Juan Carlos I Avenue also uses a specific tool to access the bottom of the boxes and mechanically extract as much material as possible.

Limusa, in addition, will place anti-slip rubber to reduce the unevenness of the overpasses of Lope Gisbert and facilitate the passage of horses in front of the Palacio de Guevara and the church of Santo Domingo.

It is an element that has a road width of approximately 3.8 meters over 50 linear meters.
