Mateos: "Lorca must once again be a city with an attractive cultural and leisure offer, adapted to the new times and the new economic and social reality." Festivals such as Lorca Rock not only offered a singular leisure alternative but also placed Lorca in the national and international cultural scene "
The candidate for Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has announced that the city of the Sun will recover the Lorca Rock festival, with the PSOE in the municipal government: "a festival that took the name of our city to international levels that few cities in the world They have reached".
"I want Lorca to come out again in the national news, but for good news, for our cultural and touristic greatness, so together, we are able to achieve," said Mateos, who has reaffirmed his commitment to maintain and promote the offer of leisure and culture of Lorca.
This is how it is contemplated in its SOL project, with solutions for Lorca.
Mateos lamented that at the time the Popular Party let lose the Lorca Rock.
"It is a real pity that this emblematic festival was lost, and all for the laziness, for the detachment and disaffection with which the Popular Party treated this event, and cultural programming in general."
"Plain and simple, for not believing in the strength, the potential and the greatness of what Lorca, together, we are able to organize."
"Festivals such as Lorca Rock not only offered a singular leisure alternative but also placed Lorca in the national and international cultural scene, Lorca must shine again, also in leisure, and be that attraction pole, not only for the city and the districts, also for the neighboring municipalities and provinces ".
"Lorca must once again be a city with an attractive cultural and leisure offer, adapted to the new times and to the new economic and social reality." Festivals such as Movida 80 90, which we have continued to support, have helped to cover that great empty space left by the elimination of festivals such as Lorca Rock, Primavera Cinematográfica or Espirelia ".
Mateos advocates to promote and support cultural events to give continuity to the private leisure offer.
"Our city can not live only from a concert or a single musical event a year," said Mateos.
"We have enough potential and capacity to be more ambitious, support the current offer and go for more, so that Lorca returns to be that focus of attraction that was during the 80s and 90s."
"We must take the culture also outside the precincts, to our squares, both in neighborhoods and in districts."
Mateos is also committed to "strengthen and enrich the programming of concerts that traditionally come to the city at the fair, trying to embrace different musical tastes, starting with the youngest ones, who are always the most forgotten", and that happens, he says, for returning to bet and take into account the work of the team of professionals, municipal technicians, with ample experience in the organization of this type of events.
"Lorca does not deserve less than the rest of the important cities of the Region, so this cultural offer must count on the collaboration, not only of the City Council, but also of the regional administration, which for years has only focused its efforts towards Murcia and Cartagena. "
