Chechu Muñoz, spokesperson for the Young Left, announced measures to combat youth unemployment and difficulties for emancipation.

IU will also launch a festival that makes daytime leisure activities in squares of the old town compatible with night activities in the Huerto de la Rueda, and will fight for the expansion of university careers in the Lorca campus

The spokesman of Izquierda Joven Lorca and candidate for local elections on May 26 for Izquierda Unida-Verdes in this municipality, Chechu Muñoz, today announced the proposals on Youth with which this training will go to the elections.

Muñoz has announced that the 'Youth Program' of IU-Green contains more than 50 measures, many of which have been contributed by young Lorca in a meeting promoted for that purpose, and also has the support of the Youth Council.

The proposals of IU-Greens will focus on solving the problems of access to employment, since, "the unemployment rate among the working population under 30 is alarming in Lorca."

The creation of public rental parks, capable of satisfying a large part of the existing demand among young people will be another of the priorities of this training.

As for leisure, Muñoz lamented that Lorca is "a city that dies".

"Adolescents have no alternative and those of us who are a little older have to move to other municipalities to find them," he said.

Therefore, IU-Greens will create a Festival that combines activities during the day in different squares of the old town and at night in the Huerto de la Rueda.

It will also launch an event to promote young local artists in different disciplines.

In the musical field, for example, the intention is that the winners of this contest share the stage with renowned artists during the concerts of the Feria and Fiestas de Lorca.

"We want the entire population, but especially the young, to enjoy a historic center that has to be regenerated urgently," said the IU-Greens candidate.

For this, this training also aims to recover old historic mansions to "give them life", as well as improve the conditions of the housing stock in this area to be an option for young people seeking emancipation.

In the area of Education and University, Izquierda Unida will work to expand the degrees that are taught in the Lorca campus.

"The historical heritage of our entity has sufficient entity so that here you can study Art History and Fine Arts", taking advantage of the "pull" that has the Bachelor of Arts that is studied at IES Ibáñez Martín, explained Muñoz.

IU will also open study rooms open 24 hours a day and will open a new one in the area of La Viña and San José, to prevent young people living there from having to travel to the city center or to the facilities of the University campus.

Chechu Muñoz also proposed the creation of a multi-sports area "in dignified conditions" in the course of the Guadalentín River, as well as the impulse of a real "youth card" that allows to enjoy discounts in activities and services, both in the purchase and acquisition of products, such as access to cultural goods and services and young tourism.

The candidacy of Izquierda Unida-Verdes for Lorca has six children under 31 who will channel the initiatives and demands of a group of more than 16,000 young Lorca.

"We are one of the social groups insufficiently served by the City Council because nobody, until now, has been concerned to listen to what we have to say," concluded Chechu Muñoz.
