The increase recorded in the number of tourists of Belgian and French origin who demanded in previous years information in their language leads the council to acquire this resource.
Seat reservation requests have already been registered for the Holy Week of 2020.
The City of Lorca deploys during this Holy Week an extensive logistical device to respond to the needs of the biblical-passional parades of Holy Week.
The 2019 edition of Holy Week in Lorca is marked by previous years of continuous increase in visitors and the complete sale of all locations.
With the hotels 100% complete and a high percentage in bordering municipalities, Lorca is preparing to receive the thousands of visitors whose number is expected to exceed last year.
After the intense communication campaign carried out by the Department of Tourism, as of today, and as everyone already knows, the brotherhoods have sold the 11,000 Holy Week chairs for all the procession days.
In fact the chairs for Thursday and Good Friday have been exhausted this year 3 weeks before the event, something that had never happened and so we can congratulate all Lorca.
For this, and as usual, the Department of Tourism prepares a special device to welcome visitors this year, with a total of 8 Tourist Information Points (PIT), whose hours of service will have an increase of 89 hours of attention to the citizen with respect to the previous year.
They will be distributed in Tourism Office, Visitor Center, Castle-Fortress, Church of San Francisco, Guevara Palace and Church of Santo Domingo.
These positions will serve tourists, visitors and Lorca during the entire Holy Week, in morning and afternoon, being extended Thursday and Good Friday at uninterrupted time.
This year, taking into account the forecasts, the staff and hours hired are increased.
In this way the deployment remains as follows:
Reinforcement staff at the Tourist Office from 2 weeks before Easter (from 1 to 5 and from 8 to 11 April).
In the morning from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (peak hours and requests for information).
Assistance to the PIT (Tourist Information Points) in Santo Domingo, Palacio de Guevara and San Francisco for the replacement of promotional material and assistance to visitors.
Increase of schedule in the PIT of Santa Clara and Ovalo, at the rate of half an hour every day, Thursday and Good Friday.
In 2018 they closed at 7:30 pm and this year they will close at 8:00 pm.
Increase of 1 more support informant in the Tourist Office.
The PIT (or exterior counters) of San Francisco, Palacio de Guevara and Santo Domingo, will begin to serve on Friday of Dolores, and will be in operation until Good Friday.
The PIT of the Palacio de Guevara will also provide service on Holy Saturday in the morning, since being the weekend is expected to receive tourists and visitors who visit the city to know the heritage of the city and the Castle.
In 2018 the Oval PIT for Thursday and Good Friday was put back on track.
The good results recorded have made this year experience repeated.
With regard to the informative material that will be distributed these days, as usual, there will be two types of forms.
On the one hand, the "Program", which includes all the activities that take place in Lorca from Serenade Thursday until Easter.
It has been coordinated by the council with the collaboration of the different Holy Week brotherhoods, which year after year update the information and provide images for its layout.
On the other hand the "Cortejo", which offers an explanation of the figures that procession in the Holy Bible Passional Parades of white and blue, and a list of the groups that parade with encarnaos, moraos and the Curia.
Given the diversity of tourists that is received in Lorca, this material will be available in Spanish, English and, this year as a novelty, also in French.
This implementation is motivated by the increase registered in the number of tourists of Belgian and French origin who request information to enjoy the processions.
The number of copies available will be 25,000, distributed in 16,000 programs in Spanish, 1,000 in English and another thousand in French, while the courtship will be published 6,000 in Spanish and a thousand in English.
Both from Lorca Taller del Tiempo and from the Department of Tourism has prepared a catalog of guided and cultural visits both in the castle and in the city that will allow visitors to know the important cultural heritage of Lorca.
These visits are:
Lorca, Holy Week and its Embroidery.
The Old Town of Lorca.
Virgen de las Huertas Sanctuary and Caliphal Palace.
Old Colegiata de Lorca and its three squares.
The Old Collegiate Church of Saint Patrick.
The Other Holy Week.
In the Castle of Lorca, visits "El Juglar del Rey" and Living in a Border Castle ".
The tourist train will be available to visitors who want to climb the castle and forget about the car on 18, 19 and 20 April.
