The Municipal Library Network of Lorca organizes the collective reading of "The Jungle Book" to commemorate World Book Day (26/04/2019)

Students from IES Ibáñez Martín schools, IES Ramón Arcas, IES San Juan Bosco, IES Prince of Asturias, Colegio Madre de Dios Mercedarias, Down Lorca users and the Mayor, Fulgencio Gil, have read what is the most emblematic work of Rudyard Kipling and of which this year marks the 125th anniversary of its publication

Plaza Real has welcomed this morning the collective reading of "The Book of the Jungle" by Rudyard Kipling with which from the Network of Municipal Libraries of Lorca commemorates the World Book Day and in which the Mayor of Lorca has been present, Fulgencio Gil, and the Councilor for Education of the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel.

This is one of the 40 initiatives organized between April 23 and May 15 to commemorate this event and which are being held in the different libraries of the municipality.

Students from IES Ibáñez Martín schools, IES Ramón Arcas, IES San Juan Bosco, IES Prince of Asturias, Colegio Madre de Dios Mercedarias and users of Down Lorca have read what is the most emblematic work of Rudyard Kipling, a British writer who was He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1907, and this year marks the 125th anniversary of its publication.

The story is based on stories that raise moral reflections and are played by children, as well as by animals with the ability to reason and speak.

Among his characters are Mowgli (boy), Baloo (bear), Bagheera (panther), Shere Khan (tiger), Akela (wolf) and Kaa (snake).

To complete the program of activities for the World Book Day, on Saturday at 12 noon in the Children's and Youth Library will take place a storyteller by Andrea Pacheco.

On Thursday, May 2, at the Library of Purias, the prizes of the 1st Short Story Literary Contest "Tell me what you read" will be given;

On Tuesday, May 7, at the Tercia Library, the activity "What is a book for you?" will take place.

in which there will be a collective reading of works and awarding of prizes;

while on Thursday 9 and Wednesday 15 May at the Library of Tercia and Almendricos will be a storytelling by Andrea Pacheco.
