The tasks of removing the asbestos have begun this morning, and after them, the shovel will make an appearance to make way for a green area in the heart of the neighborhood, as promised by our Mayor, Fulgencio Gil.
The head of Urbanism of the Popular Party of Lorca, and councilor in the City Council, María Saturnina Martínez, has welcomed the start of the demolition works of the property that, after its final demolition, will give way to a new green area in the heart of the neighborhood of San Cristóbal, in what constitutes the most important urban improvement intervention that has been carried out in the Barrio throughout the last decades.
The previous tasks began several days ago, proceeding to the removal of multiple wiring connections and supplies, as well as other elements that were located in the different facades presented by the current construction.
We are talking, mainly, of cabling and public lighting.
Once this task is completed and following the work plan established by the Government Team of the Popular Party, today the company specialized in the matter has accessed the interior of the building and has undertaken the removal of all construction parts that present asbestos
These are roof pieces, some pipes and pipes.
According to the indications of this company, this work will be extended for several days to have numerous elements of this type.
Once this aspect of the work is completed, the demolition shovel will proceed to the final demolition of the entire block.
It is a plot of 1,034 m2 located between the streets Eulogio Periago, Juan Mínguez and Beato Fray Pedro Soler, in the heart of the San Cristóbal neighborhood.
The neighbors will be provided with a new recreational and leisure area.
The suppression of the property will allow neighbors to count as soon as possible with a new space for leisure and recreation.
The action will be specified in the habilitation of a large green area with playground thanks to the obtaining of a plot of 1,034 m2 located between the streets Eulogio Periago, Juan Mínguez and Beato Fray Pedro Soler.
This intervention is the most ambitious project of urban planning that has been developed in the area, and will result in the release of a key space to improve the neighborhood, both aesthetically and dotacionalmente.
In recent years over a hundred streets in the neighborhood of San Cristobal, have been the subject of investments, which include the integral improvement of the Calle Mayor and Ortega Melgares (715,000 euros), as well as Eulogio Periago (712,000 €) including the latter in a 7.5 million injection for the integral arrangement of a battery of 58 streets.
In addition to the indicated, other municipal works have allowed the improvement of other 46 streets in the same neighborhood.
It is worth noting that in San Cristóbal the works on Charco Street have also been completed, responding to the commitment that this City Council expressed to the residents, involving an investment of 358,333.70 Euros.
Work has also been carried out to improve the Plaza de las Hortalizas, thanks to an investment of 23,400 euros by the General Directorate of Trade of CARM.
