IU coincides with the business organizations in the need to create transformation industry in Lorca to generate employment (02/05/2019)

Pedro Sosa is firmly committed to the secondary sector with facilities for the development of industrial estates and the start-up of a local office for attracting investments.

The development of infrastructures such as the Mediterranean Corridor, the revitalization of the Historic District with VPO for young people, or the elimination of bureaucratic obstacles for the creation of companies, are other essential IU-Green measures to lift the economy of Lorca

The candidate for the Mayor of Lorca for United Left-Greens, Pedro Sosa, has held this morning a meeting with representatives of CECLOR, Chamber of Commerce, Hostelor and Guadalentín Emprende, who has detailed the main aspects of its electoral program in economic matters .

Sosa, who has been accompanied by Gloria Martín and Maite Giner, members of the Iu-Verdes candidacy, has also heard the demands of local business organizations, which in many ways coincide with those of their formation.

For IU Green, the main lines that have to mark the economic policy and that have moved in this meeting go through the recovery of the secondary sector by attracting investors that generate new industries.

To this end, Lorca will be provided with a municipal office similar to the regional INFO to enhance investments in our city.

All this, coupled with the development of industrial estates that are now corseted in their expansion by the General Plan.

At the infrastructure level, IU and the business organizations agree on the need to recover the railway connection with Andalusia through the Mediterranean Freight Corridor.

On the revitalization of the Historic District, beyond the mere intentions of the local government of the PP that have not materialized in the last 12 years, IU-Verdes is committed to the construction of Housing for Official Protection (VPO) for young people in one of the apples of the center, which will generate the recovery of the commercial fabric of the area.

In that sense, Sosa stressed that the priority is "repopulate the historic center" because "it is useless to open new businesses if this area is empty."

The business organizations and the formation of local left also coincide in the definitive commissioning of the Palace of Justice and in the construction of a hotel in the historic center.

Correct the deficiencies of the primary sector, for example the lack of water for aromatic cultivation in the northern districts, and promote good agricultural practices, or the transfer of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock to Lorca, as has been done with Tourism in Cartagena, are other bets of IU-Greens.

For its part, Maite Giner, worker in the hospitality sector, has stressed that for the city to re-emerge in terms of leisure, some ordinances are needed to allow local rest, but not to "suffocate" the hoteliers, and also in the implementation of training courses in hospitality for the hiring of qualified personnel in times of high demand for these professionals as Holy Week.
