IU-Verdes Lorca will strengthen the work of local NGOs (04/05/2019)

The mayoral candidate, Pedro Sosa, lamented the lack of institutional support for these groups and that the priorities of the current government team are to spend 20 million euros in an auditorium or three in a bullring, to the detriment of basic needs of people, "that for us are going to come first"

The candidate for the Mayor of Lorca for Left United Greens, Pedro Sosa, has held a meeting with various NGOs operating in the municipality, such as ASDIFILOR - Association of physically disabled in Lorca, AEMA III Multiple Sclerosis Association of Area III Health , Down Lorca and ASPERSOLOR Association of deaf people of Lorca and region.

Accompanied by Gloria Martín and Jaime García, numbers two and five of the candidacy respectively, Sosa said his bet because the City Council encourages the care work of these organizations.

"Lorca is fortunate to have prestigious NGOs that serve many social needs that are autonomous and municipal competition," he said, adding that "investing in them is a guarantee of a job well done and committed, because it is run by people who know more about their problems when they suffer it in their own flesh ".

Sosa recalled that if Lorca is going to have an accessibility plan, has the first neurorehabilitation center in the Region, or promotes the autonomy of people with Down syndrome, autism or sensory disability, it is because there are neighbors who work without rest no profit.

Therefore, lamented the lack of institutional support and that the priorities of the current government team are to spend 20 million euros in an auditorium or three in a bullring, to the detriment of the basic needs of people, "that for us are to be first. "

The candidate of IU-Greens to the Mayor committed to these groups to end the situations of discrimination they suffer and promote tools of empowerment, visibility and coordination to facilitate their work "that is priceless at the service of Lorca society."

"All they ask is that we know how to listen and that we show sensitivity, something that will be easy for us because all our candidates are involved in some social movement and know the shortcomings and limitations that these organizations have to face each day, "he said.

Sosa said that volunteering is "a civic virtue" with far-reaching social and cultural repercussions because it responds to many neighbors who would feel "lost" without the work of these groups.

Therefore, "we must pamper them, because they represent the best we have as a society," he concluded.
