IU and the FAMPA coincide in suppressing the single educational district to end the "school ghettos" Among the measures that from IU was presented to the FAMPA stand out the firm commitment to Public Education, the reduction of ratios in th (07/05/2019)

Pedro Sosa, councilor for Izquierda Unida Verdes, José García Murcia, local coordinator of this formation and Jaime García, member of the candidacy for the upcoming municipal elections, held a meeting last night with members of the FAMPA (Federation of Mothers and Fathers Associations of Students) in the House of the ONG's, in which they presented the educative measures that the formation of lefts will take in its program for the next elections.

One of the recurrent complaints of IU during these years has been against the cornering of immigrant students in certain educational centers, such as the CEIP of San Cristóbal or José Robles, as a consequence of the Single Educational District, forming "ghettos" that do not favor nothing to the integration of these students (according to a recent study, Spain occupies the fifth country of the EU where it segregates more).

In addition, from the Ministry of Education the promises to provide more resources to these centers are breached, "create a problem and then leave them without means to address it," said Sosa.

From the FAMPA, its president Francisco Morales, thanked that IU was the only one that has shown criticism with this new model of choice of centers, because like IU, bet on the return to the previous model zoning model, in which the proximity of the student to the center was scored much more.

However, the loss of decision power of the Municipal School Council before the municipal and regional authorities means that their demands are not heard by a regional government that has opted for this discriminatory model.

Both organizations also agreed on the need for a firmer commitment to public education to the detriment of the concerted and the reduction of ratios in both Primary and Secondary if it is intended to improve the educational skills of students.

Other educational aspects present in the IU Lorca program and which were favorably received by the FAMPA, are the restructuring of the Municipal School Council, so that it becomes the highest decision-making body in matters of educational policy of the municipality;

bilingual teaching system extensive to the entire school population, supported by means, schedules, split-ups, educational reinforcements and teachers;

implement the budget for the programs of attention to students with special educational needs and recover the face-to-face teacher training line, relocating a Center for Professors and Resources CPR- in Lorca with a regional scope.
