Cala de Calnegre reissues the Blue Flag awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education, consolidating the excellence of the beaches of Lorca (07/05/2019)

Cala de Calnegre has reissued the Blue Flag concession, consolidating the excellence of this Lorca beach.

For the third year, the Blue Flag will fly in the municipality of Lorca, demonstrating that its achievement was not the result of chance but rather the response to the quality of the coastline and the work carried out to comply with the parameters necessary for its concession by the Foundation for the Environmental Education (FEE).

From the Department of Tourism was requested in June 2016 to make the mandatory visit by inspectors.

After the favorable report, a work commission was set up to achieve final approval and improve the condition of the cove, obtaining in May 2017 for the first time and in 2018 for the second time the Blue Flag.

Now it is reissued after continuing to comply with the different parameters and quality standards and having developed the necessary information and environmental education activities.

Our cove has met the quality standards of bathing waters, performing analyzes every thirty days during the bathing season and adding at least eight a year.

The physical-chemical parameters are also checked to verify that the ph is in the normal range, that there is no floating pollution and that there are no wastewater discharges.

It is also necessary that the beach have a cleaning plan, have containers and selective collection of waste, presence of qualified rescue equipment, first aid equipment and easy and safe access.

It must also have access and services for people with disabilities, and must sign on a map or panel all services and facilities of the beach, as well as information on safety standards, exposure of the results of water analysis, information on activities environmental activities that will be carried out, information about the blue flag program, contact and security telephones, among others.

This project emerged in the hands of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in 1985 in France, and began to spread across the continent with the support of the European Commission, although currently there are 49 countries around the world that participate in the project.

The news arrived this morning through a letter addressed to the Councilor for Tourism, Francisco Montiel.
