The candidate for Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has presented the plan "Lorca Park", a "realistic, feasible" with which the PSOE aims to create about 2,000 parking spaces in the city.
"Lorca has to return to be a living, attractive city, both for own and visitors, just what the Popular Party has charged, because after 12 years of government is a real odyssey to try to park in our city."
The lack of parking, also aggravated by the elimination of hundreds of parking spaces after work in neighborhoods, makes those who bet on Lorca as a commercial and service city have stopped coming.
The most outstanding proposal of this plan "Lorca Aparca", and that marks the "big bet" to create and recover spaces for parking, happens to comply with the provisions of the General Plan, which provides for the construction of an underground parking , of five floors, in the parking lot of Alameda de Menchirón, in front of the Bus Station of Lorca.
"It is enough to comply with the General Plan, and even, as foreseen in the PERI, the Special Plan of Internal Reform, approved since 2009," so, he adds, "we are going to propose that, together with the Poncemar Foundation , in coordination and collaboration with this entity, to comply with the regulations that provide for the construction of this car park "
With this project, which Mateos is marked as a priority to execute, this parking area would go from the current 260 seats to 1,200 divided into five underground floors, in the heart of Lorca.
In addition, he adds that this project would also lead to the creation of an area of ​​commercial use on the surface, which would similarly mark the revitalization of local commerce.
"People want to go back to Lorca, buy in our shops, live our streets, people are eager to recover the life that our city had and that has gone out after these 12 years of Popular Party government," so "we have to make a city comfortable, accessible and therefore alive ".
"Our city needs to have more parking spaces to accommodate all people, both neighborhoods, districts and those who visit us, can have affordable spaces to stay in Lorca."
The proposal of this large underground parking in Alameda de Menchirón, adds, "reinforces our commitment to solve parking problems, as it adds to the recovery we will make of the maximum possible number of parking spaces eliminated with the works, and the use of unused lots, especially in the upper neighborhoods, to give neighbors and visitors parking solutions. "
Mateos also aims to carry out an "exhaustive" study to recover the largest possible number of parking spaces that disappeared after the works in neighborhoods.
