Fulgencio Gil proposes the opening of educational centers during non-school hours, opening the first 24-hour study room and integrating Lorca into the Network of European Educating Cities (14/05/2019)

These are the main actions that the PP will carry out during the next four years in the area of education in our municipal area, which include a total of 40 "Edu Measures" to promote a notable advance for the educational community.

The Mayor of Lorca and President of the Popular Party of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, together with the head of Education of the PP Lorca, Pedro Mondéjar, have presented the ambitious battery of measures that will be developed over the next four years by part of this political formation in educational matter.

These are proposals that cover both formal and non-formal education and resources.

The 40 "Edu Measures" are based on the municipal educational principles that will be developed in all of them, such as: inclusion, equity, equality, innovation, quality, service and the environment.

Education is the fertile ground on which our society germinates.

The only way to create a better future is from the training, and for this it is necessary to have the best professionals, the best facilities and the best resources.

From the Popular Party of Lorca, and within the competences established at the local level, we have worked during the last years to make available to the students the best resources, watching over the state of the educational centers, but also betting on new infrastructures that complete the local educational map, planning activities for the benefit of the educational community and strengthening how many initiatives have an impact on the benefit of education.

We are talking about proposals based on experience and consultation with the educational community and that aim to continue improving this essential area for our municipality.

The main measures in this sense are the opening of the educational sites on weekends for recreational and educational use, together with the extension of the schedule of public libraries during the exam period, adapting their schedule to the demand of the students.

As a first concrete example, we will make available to all Lorca the first classroom 24 hours in the Plaza de la Virgen de la Amargura, in the facilities that we will allocate to the Young Space.

We are going to propose the appointment of Lorca as European Educating City, through all the activities and projects that are already planned and / or underway, taking advantage of the quality of our educational centers.

The educational city's mission is to promote education and social integration, covering all areas (social, political, economic ...) and promoting cooperation between agents (administration, companies, education professionals, schools ...).

In order to ensure fairness among students, we will promote the viable creation of summer schools, in addition to promoting the implementation and improvement of extracurricular activities with the collaboration of parent associations.

In order to guarantee the recognition of the teaching function, we will create the Teacher's Gala, betting on the value that teachers and professors have for society as a whole and which has to be highlighted with the visibility and category it deserves.

After achieving the incorporation of the Occupational Therapy Degree in the Campus, we will request new official university studies and studies from the University of Murcia.

These statements have been made in the course of the sectoral act on this matter that has been developed in the cultural center José María Campoy, and that has served to break down these proposals among the educational community of the municipality.
