WE ARE LORCA WE ARE REGION has carried out this morning the "cleaning of the beaches of Calnegre", which had been announcing for weeks'

Up to a hundred volunteers, from several points of the Region of Murcia, have moved this morning to the village of Calnegre to help clean the Lorca littoral.

During the four hours that the activity lasted, two types of garbage were collected.

The so-called "macrobasura" such as beer bottles, soda cans, plastic pipes and even "a toilet lid".

Cans have also been found among the garbage collected, which, judging by the state of decomposition, had been among the bushes and stones of the beach for several years.

As for the "microbasura", crystals, small pieces of plastic, butts and above all, porexpan or white cork have been collected.

This micro-waste is the most dangerous, both because of the damage that bathers can do, and because of the damage it does to marine wildlife when they eat it.

The initiative of SOMOS LORCA SOMOS REGIÓN has responded the City of Lorca, sending a day before the cleaning scheduled by our political training, to several teams to clean the beach.

So the neighbors of the town told us "surprised" because in several years it is the first time they see a device like the one they ordered to clean.

From SOMOS LORCA SOMOS REGION we are satisfied if we have contributed to create ecological awareness in the City Council and that this same City Council is concerned for once the beach that we Lorca have in Punta de Calnegre.

WE ARE LORCA WE ARE REGION thanks the 112 of the Region of Murcia and in particular to Lorca for sending a Civil Protection patrol and an ambulance as a preventive measure, as well as the LIMUSA company that has provided us with the containers and garbage bags necessary.
