The Department of Youth encourages young people to participate in the two camps organized by Cazalla Intercultural for this summer in the shelter of Casa Iglesias (29/05/2019)

This is an activity for which a total of 50 places have been offered divided into two shifts: from 1 to 5 and from 8 to 12 July respectively.

They are intended for young Lorca aged between 14 and 19 years.

The Councilor for Youth in the City of Lorca, Agustín Llamas, along with Angela Sanchez, monitor of this activity, has presented this morning in the Hall of Town Councils the 50 seats for the realization of two summer camps for young people Our municipality, which will be developed from 1 to 5 and from 8 to 12 July respectively in the Casa Iglesias hostel.

Llamas Gomez explained that this summer Cazalla also offers the opportunity to 50 young people from Lorca and its municipalities, who are between 14 and 19 years old, to participate in one of the two summer camps that this year will be held at Casa Iglesias.

The House of Churches Shelter is located in the deputation of La Culebrina, located in the homonymous Sierra, 3 kilometers from the Valdeinfierno reservoir.

Dense pine forests extend over the peaks and slopes, above 1,400 meters of altitude, also holm oaks and junipers, the landscape beauty of the environment and the natural, cultural and ethnological richness, offer an enormous attraction for interpretation and environmental education.

This tourist and youth hostel is an old Forest House rehabilitated and located at the crossroads of roads that lead to the Collado de los Carasoles, the Valdeinfierno Reservoir and the Natural Park of Sierra de María-Los Vélez.

It contains two buildings, perfectly differentiated, the first consists of a hall, control-reception, multipurpose room, kitchen area and dormitories for the staff of the hostel.

And the second has two floors, and there are four apartments, two per floor, with bathroom and built-in fireplace.

Other services that count are, restaurant, first-aid kit, telephone, television, also has a swimming pool, gazebo and track of track and field.

In the camps it is intended, through various dynamics and games, to practice good treatment and coexistence, promote respect and appreciate diversity with young people from different minorities, cultures, neighborhoods ... We also want to encourage the participation of youth in life social and civic, and develop actions that allow sharing what has been learned with the other young people of Lorca.

Thanks to this activity is framed in the European project STAR (S-tand T-ogether A-gainst R-acism), co-funded by the Erasmus + Program of the European Union, the participation of young people in the camps is completely free.

The property is distributed over two floors, with facilities including a dining room, bar-restaurant, camping area, swimming pool, 2 apartments and services.

Enter the activities that can be developed in this strategic and attractive Lorca environmental enclave include the observation of the Leonid Vulture and the native fauna, orientation, aromatherapy and essences, astronomy workshops, hiking trails and photography in nature.

The facilities benefited a couple of years ago from an investment of 24,000 euros by the City Council, which allowed mainly repair, improvement and tuning of the pool that had, and now offers a service that has increased interest for enjoying the hostel.
