Huerto Ruano hosts on Saturday the presentation of the book "La encantada de Tébar and other stories from the Sierra de la Almenara", by Pablo Díaz Moreno (29/05/2019)

It is a compilation of popular narratives that recreate sequences of local customs in the area between the municipalities of Lorca and Águilas, in the places of Aljibejo and Las Cruceticas, with a peculiar language.

The councilman of Culture in the City of Lorca, Agustín Llamas, reported that next Saturday June 1 will be the presentation of the book "The enchanted Tèbar and other tales of the Sierra de la Almenara", by Pablo Díaz Moreno , writer, trovero and member of the Knights of the Almenara, collective dedicated to the recovery of heritage of the traditional culture of Murcia.

The event will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the palace of Huerto Ruano in Lorca.

This new collection of folk tales, illustrated by Antonio Vidal Máiquez and with an introduction and notes by Anselmo J. Sánchez Ferra, adds to the heritage of traditional Murcian culture with more than 200 stories that have their roots in a remote past.

They are narrations that speak of the man with the authority that the centuries give and artfully hide behind the laughter a not very pious truth.

The artist Antonio Vidal Máiquez recreates 70 sequences of these stories with his personal interpretation that plays between the archetype and the concrete, disturbing, melancholic and suggestive.

The author was born in 1958 in the area between El Aljibejo and Las Cruceticas, in the area between the municipalities of Lorca and Águilas, in the Sierra de la Almenara.

There he could enjoy the last years in which the ancient Serratean culture was still alive.

He started working in the field as a laborer at age 13 and continued with that job until his retirement.

A fan trovo, accompanied the adventures of the end of the aquiline group trovero.

He helped his student, Iván López Navarro, to write the Manual del buen trovero (2010), and also collaborated in Music and Christmas parties (2014), both works published by the Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Rosary, Santa Cruz, in the collection directed by Joaquín Gris Martínez.

Since 1986, he has written the proclamations of the aquiline carnival, including the Battle of Don Carnal and Doña Cuaresma.

This is his second collection of folk tales.

It is an area of marked agrarian character, After the Reconquest of Murcia it became a border territory.

The highest peak of the Sierra de la Almenara is the Talayón, which belongs.

In him the garrisons in charge to watch the coasts before the possible Moorish invasions ignited a bonfire, that warned of the danger to the strength of Lorca.

In fact, the toponym Almenara comes from the Arabic al-mänâra, which literally means "the place of light" and which designates the watchtowers, where bonfires were lit as a sign.

From the same period is the origin of the place-name of La Escucha since, in the uncertainty of attacks coming from the coast, emissaries were sent to remain at La Escucha and gather news about possible invasions.
