The remodeling of the skating area of ​​Santa Clara Avenue allows its users to enjoy aesthetically and functionally improved facilities (31/05/2019)

The City Council has allocated to this intervention an investment of 5,000 euros that has been used for the repair of multiple damages, some of them derived from vandalism, as well as for the repair of locksmith elements.

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has supervised this morning the result of the improvement and conditioning works that have been executed by the City Council on the Skate-Park track located on Santa Clara Avenue, next to the Councilor for Sports, Juan Miguel Bayonas, users of the skating area, Council of Youth, Cazalla Intercultural and the Santa Clara Skateboarding Club.

The Mayor has indicated that the number of users of these sports has grown in recent years, being the scooter or scooter, the sport that more young skaters between 13 and 20 years is catching or even reaching, in the case of skateboarding, be part of the Olympic Games, as it will do in Tokyo 2020. Bayonas stressed that Lorca has skaters of great level, and that this event is intended to demonstrate the support that the City offers these athletes and these modalities.

The works have involved an investment of 5,000 euros by the City Council, while the Cazalla Intercultural Association has contributed to the aesthetic improvement of the site, thematizing and decorating the tracks and their surroundings.

The improvement of the skating area, which has been carried out by a Lorca company, has allowed to repair multiple damages in the tracks and walls that make up the circuit, as well as eliminate cracks, correct damage and deterioration, and fix some damage caused by vandalism.

It has also made a general painting of the area and repair of locksmith items.

For the conditioning of this area has proceeded to chop cracks and repair them with repair mortar based on resins, as well as the capping of cavities in several areas with brick and subsequent mortar plaster, placement of sheets of 40 cm in ramps that lacked it and replacement of deteriorated, and plastering of the tracks to cover irregularities.

This installation has been used precisely over the past weekend for the celebration of the "Lorca Xtreme Contest", an event of Skate and Scooter that includes two sports competitions aimed at a public aged between 7 and 22 years.

These are two scoring Scooter sports competitions for the Official Skateboarding League and the Official Freestyle Scooter League of the Region of Murcia, making the city of Lorca the official seat.

The Skate Park now allows new activities to be hosted, as has been the case of Scooter participatory workshops, where free classes have been given to all audiences, as well as talks in which skaters will be explained the importance of federating and associating as a club or youth association.
