The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, and the president of the Lorca Driving Association "Ciudad del Sol", Pedro García, presented this morning the First Spanish Championship of Hooks, obstacle test, to be held from 1 to 3 November at the premises of Torre del Obispo and in which fifty horse riders will participate.
Fulgencio Gil pointed out that "it is not the first time that the Lorca Driving Association" Ciudad del Sol "has organized a major event and already deserved to be able to carry out a national test, and in 2006 and 2007 the association organized the Regional Championship in the category of complete contest, a complete territorial one and this year it carries out a league of combined competitions that consists of four tests.In addition, it also participates since 2011 in different tests that are carried out in different points of the Region and collaborates In the organization of contests in Fericab, on the other hand, it also organizes, together with the Lorca Consistory, the traditional exhibition of hooks in the Alameda during the Feria de Lorca in which fifty horse-drawn carriages, coachmen and horses of the entire Region participate in the modalities of limonera, trunks, quarters and triplets, among others ".
The Mayor of Lorca stressed that "we are in luck because Lorca will once again be the headquarters of a national championship, in this case granted by the Royal Spanish Equestrian Federation." It should be noted that the discipline of hitch has its origins in the full competition of horsemanship with the main difference of using a horse-drawn carriage or ponies.The complete contest is composed of two tests: the Marathon and the Cones or Handling test.
For its part, the representative of the Association, Pedro Garcia, has invited all Lorca and residents of the rest of the region to "enjoy this championship in which you can check in situ the result of tireless work done by horses and their coachmen ".
And he stressed that his intention is "to continue consolidating the hobby while contributing to spread the traditions and equestrian art among all those who wish to share these days organized with much enthusiasm and effort".
The facilities of the association, in the urbanization Torre del Obispo, are located six kilometers from Lorca.
The circuit has seven artificial obstacles, a natural obstacle, track of 110x50 square meters, track of 100x40 square meters, parking for cars and trucks with points of light and water, laundry, 60 boxes of 3x3 square meters covered under a tent, enclosure fence of 30,000 square meters, and all the services required by a national test.
The Association of Enganches "Ciudad del Sol" has the support of the Equestrian Federation of Murcia.
