The City Council approves an agreement for € 30,000 with the Daughters of Charity to finance social support activities in San José de Calasanz (05/06/2019)

This aid multiplies by 6 the contribution they had been receiving for the development of social work by the Catholic community, which this year marks 108 years of presence and continued work by Lorca.

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, together with the Councilor for Social Welfare in the City Council of our city, Fátima Mínguez, visited this morning the facilities of San José de Calasanz, located between Ramblilla de San Lázaro and the San Pedro neighborhood, where multiple projects of assistance to families at risk of exclusion are developed by the Daughters of Charity of San Vicente de Paúl, framed in the social work Santa Luisa de Marillac, in collaboration with several management areas of the Consistory itself.

Fulgencio Gil pointed out that "the projects that we share and in which we actively collaborate from the City Council with the Daughters of Charity of San Vicente de Paúl are related to two groups that present very particular needs, such as minors and adolescents. For the first of the mentioned groups we are carrying out the Project "Alca", which has a municipal subsidy and in which different activities are carried out with the children of Barrios Altos.

The "Renacer" Project, on the other hand, is carried out with the group of young women at risk of social exclusion and thanks to the same municipal officials offer these girls different training activities and acquisition of social skills.

With the development of this project we are talking about offering new opportunities and effective alternatives to help teenage mothers and young girls precisely when they need it the most ".

The Mayor of Lorca stressed that from the City we want to thank the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul for the great work they do every day to help those who need it most.

Without any doubt they will continue to have all our support to continue carrying out these initiatives that bet on life and the future, generating a new positive social framework for these young mothers and these children from the most vulnerable neighborhoods of the city.

The specific case of the Daughters of Charity is a model of delivery, personal sacrifice and vocation of service to Lorca that this municipality will never forget.

They have been working to assist our citizens for 108 years, and today I want to remind them that Lorca loves and needs them.

We are very proud of the Daughters of Charity.
