They develop workshops of Restoration of furniture, Gardening, Masonry, education of Adults, Health Care and Conferences that this entity carries out with the collaboration of the Lorca Consistory, in addition to the therapeutic attention that is lent to the users.
The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, together with the Councilor for Family and Social Welfare of the City of Lorca, Fátima Mínguez, and the President of the Association El Buen Camino, Francisco Martínez, supervised this morning the facilities maintained by this important group of social assistance both in their Shelter and in the Therapeutic Community.
In this way they have visited the occupational workshops carried out by this association with the users who reside in their facilities and who are carried out through an agreement signed between the Lorca Consistory and this entity.
Overall, this association has a municipal funding of 15,000 euros per year, in addition to another 300,000 by the Regional Government of the Autonomous Community, currently assisting a total of 42 people.
The Mayor has indicated that our commitment to people at risk of social exclusion goes further through the new agreement that will allow continuity and complete the programs made available for rehabilitation, assistance and collaboration, consolidating Lorca as a municipality in solidarity with those who most need help.
The users spend their time in the occupational workshops that take place every day and that have the objective of providing them with basic tools that help them find a job and acquire a social and family projection.
The activities that are developed are: furniture restoration workshop, gardening workshop, masonry workshop, adult education, health care and nursing and conferences.
The users of the Shelter are assisted by a social worker, an adult teacher and a nurse, as well as various center staff.
The stay of the users varies according to their own needs.
The number of people attended each year depends on the personal evolution of each user in the development of the therapeutic program carried out by the Association.
The approximate stay time is 6 months.
The profile of the people who have lived together in the Shelter of El Buen Camino is very diverse.
In these years they have welcomed people with university level, others who have been practicing in their profession, but who for one circumstance or another, have ended up in an adverse situation.
In addition, attention has also been given to families who have lost the house where they lived, who have followed or are following any type of outpatient treatment and have nowhere to live;
or to anyone who lives in a situation of social exclusion.
The user is usually a person between the ages of 30 and 70.
The City Council thanked El Bueno Camino for the social work carried out in our municipality, since thanks to it dozens of people get a new opportunity while participating in society from both the work perspective and the social prism.
That is the most important and that is the goal we set ourselves from the Municipal Council and why we will continue to bet on the benefit that it implies for many Lorca and their families.
