Lorca hosts the Open Learning Experience course that will bring together teachers and educators from Italy, the United Kingdom and Spain to improve the teaching of Spanish to immigrants (11/06/2019)

The Councilor for Youth of the City of Lorca, Agustín Llamas, together with the representative of Cazalla Intercultural, Sibisse Rodríguez, presented the Open Learning Experience course that will run from June 14 to 18 at the M13 Youth Resource Center.

This initiative is intended for teachers, educators and volunteers who work with immigrants, especially those who deal with the teaching of Spanish.

Llamas has announced that "with the collaboration of the Youth Council and the co-financing of the Erasmus + program of the European Union, Cazalla Intercultural launches this new initiative within the Open Learning Experience project from June 14 to 18 in the morning and the course will be held later that will have the participation of people coming from Italy, the United Kingdom and all Spain, being a unique opportunity to share experiences and challenges with education professionals who work with immigrants in other countries. and participate have 9 places, receiving a diploma at the end of the course in which the number of hours and content thereof will be indicated ".

The objectives of the Open Learning Experience course are:

- Understand and learn to use the methodology of non-formal education in the school environment.

- Learn to implement family learning with immigrants.

- Understand the roles of teacher and facilitator and learn to move from one to the other.

- Understand how the process of experiential learning works and explore how to use it in the daily work with students.

- Understand what invisible violence is and the concept of "good treatment".

- Prepare an action plan for daily work with students and families.

- Create a support network at a transnational level and explore new opportunities for mobility and learning.

The course will be conducted in English, so it is also a good opportunity to practice this language.

In the course of the same one will use a methodology of learning between pairs, learning in small groups and presentations of experts.

Other methods of non-formal education such as icebreaker dynamics, group building activities, role plays, debriefings and reflection and feedback sessions will also be tested.

The participants of the course will be able to be part of the later phase of the project, in which pilot activities will be implemented with children, families and young immigrants.
