• It is about having clear, clean and well-maintained channels to avoid any type of eventuality in case of episodes of heavy rainfall in an enclave of our municipal area.

The Deputy Spokesman of the Municipal People's Group in the Municipality of Lorca, Ángel Meca, has publicly proposed to the Segura Hydrographic Confederation to take advantage of the summer months to carry out a cleanup of the existing ramblas in our municipal area.

We are talking about a task that should be executed on a regular basis with the objective that these channels respond with the efficiency due to episodes of intense rainfall, as they usually register occasionally in the summer period and more frequently and virulence in September and October.

We believe that it would be especially positive for Lorca who from the CHS took advantage of these months to materialize the cleanup of the wadis.

We all know that due to the passage of time, various elements are often accumulated that interfere with the ability to evacuate the channels when it rains, which can lead to overflows and other incidents, which we now have time to avoid.

The enclaves that, according to the indications transferred by the citizens, should be subject to priority action by the CHS, are the Guadalentín river channel, Salada ravine, 17 Arches, Ramonete, Béjar, Del Pintado, Rafael Méndez and Purias, among others.

It is a request of marked constructive spirit and that arises from the requests that are being transferred to us by the neighbors themselves, especially from the residents of the districts, during the continuous work meetings that we keep on a daily basis.

They have indicated to us that it would be convenient to develop these interventions, since in some areas the state that the ravines present has generated uncertainty to the neighbors, who demand the cleaning and clearing of the channels.

We must remember that the cleaning of the ravines is the exclusive competence of the CHS, as a basin organization, so we appeal to its sensitivity to monitor the state of the channels in question and undertake the work to clear those ravines over which there are incidents of relevance that require the intervention of the administration.

Ángel Meca has said that in recent months it has been the City Council itself that has had to take over the cleaning of some channels, as has been the case of Las Senjitas, Las Chatas, La Teja (La Hoya) and Las Canales (Tercia), although these actions should be considered as an exception, since competition in this area corresponds to the CHS.
