Lorca will commemorate the International LGTBIQ Pride Day with the reading of a manifesto and the placement of the rainbow flag on the balcony of the City Council (26/06/2019)

It will be next Friday, June 28, at 11:30 am, when an event will be held in which the LGTBIQ Collective, the Youth Council will participate;

Lorca Feminist;

Intercultural Cazalla;

Scout Group Ciudad del Sol and the Federation of Women's Organizations of Lorca.

The Councilors of Equality and Youth of the City of Lorca, Antonia Pérez and José Ángel Ponce, announced this morning the celebration of an institutional event on the occasion of the International LGTBIQ Pride Day.

It will be next Friday June 28, at 11:30 am, when different youth organizations and groups of the city come together in the Plaza de España to commemorate "a day of struggle for tolerance, diversity, equality and respect".

The Councilor for Youth has announced that, for the first time, the rainbow flag will be placed on the balcony of the Municipal Council.

An event in which the mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, will be present, as well as the members of the LGTBIQ collectives of Lorca and Murcia, the Youth Council;

Lorca Feminist, Intercultural Cazalla;

Scout Group Ciudad del Sol and the Federation of Women's Organizations of Lorca.

In addition, in formal recognition of the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual and intersex people, an institutional manifesto will be read to fight "for real equality and avoid any type of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender."

On the other hand, Antonia Pérez, has shown her commitment to continue with initiatives of this type with the objective of supporting "the equality of each and every one of the people with absolute independence of their sexual orientation and gender identity".

The mayor of Equality spoke of the progress achieved in recent years but said that "we can not settle" and asked to continue raising awareness for a more tolerant and respectful society.

From the City of Lorca announce that it will be one of the firmest and most vindictive bets that, in addition, will comply with the Law 8/2016 of Social Equality and against Discrimination of the Region of Murcia that fights for the need that the Public Administrations are actively involved in the visibility and support for this group, especially on dates as marked as the next June 28.

LGTBIQ Pride Day is an international event that celebrates its 50th anniversary this 2019 and is celebrated every June 28 since 1969 in commemoration of the Stonewall riots, which occurred during this date in New York, and which marked the beginning of homosexual liberation with the mobilization of thousands of people for three days on the streets of New York.
