The beneficiaries of the Employment and Training Programs of the Local Development Department prepare the War Theater (04/07/2019)

The action includes the conditioning and improvement in the walls of the access corridors to the stalls and the dressing rooms where there is humidity.

The Councilors of Local Development and Culture of the City Council of Lorca, Isabel Casalduero and María Ángeles Mazuecos, have witnessed the beginning of the refurbishment and improvement work that will be carried out in several rooms of the Guerra Theater by the beneficiaries of the different Employment and Training Programs launched by the Local Development Department.

The Local Development Council informed that "the actions, which will be completed by mid-August, will be carried out on the walls of the access corridors to the stalls and dressing rooms where there are dampnesses that are causing the degradation of the coating paintings and the aesthetics of these rooms, so it was necessary to correct this situation ".

Isabel Casalduero, detailed that "the masonry team is going to take care of the removal of the marble skirting and the lining of the plaster that is degraded by moisture and, once removed, proceed to the restitution of the plaster in the areas most affected for the subsequent placement of the backing of cardboard plate with metal profiles ".

As for the carpentry work, "the adjustment of flashing on the doors and windows of the dressing rooms will be carried out and on the upper part of the plinths a wooden shelf with hydrophobic treatment will be placed".

Of the electricity works, the councilor specified that "they will consist in the adaptation of electrical plugs and boxes" and the painting team "will remove the degraded paint that exists in the walls, the covering of cracks and consolidation of damages, as well as the subsequent application of two coats of white paint for the finishing of the performance ".

Casalduero Jódar explained that "a total of 23 people participate in the action, from the masonry program four people, two first officers and two second officers, one first officer, nine people, eight students and a monitor, like nine others belonging to the electricity program in which eight students and a monitor also participate ".

The Local Development Councilor wanted to highlight "the obvious state of neglect that is one of the cultural symbols par excellence of the city, the War Theater."

On the other hand, María Ángeles Mazuecos, Edil de Cultura, appreciated the close collaboration between the councils of the city, in this case, the Local Development, "for the maintenance actions that are going to be carried out in the Lorca theater, the oldest of the Region of Murcia declared, for its relevance and exquisiteness, Cultural Interest in the year 1982 ".

Mazuecos Moreno has also referred to the need to carry out improvement actions in rooms as important as the dressing rooms themselves, where "we welcome a multitude of artists of national and international relevance and it is our obligation to keep them in optimal conditions to facilitate your stay and the very preparation of the shows. "

In addition, the Councilor for Culture has highlighted "the firm commitment of this Government Team to take care of our heritage, to maintain not only this if not each and every one of the spaces, buildings and resources of a city that celebrates so many activities and hosts annually and continue betting, like this, for an accessible culture in Lorca ".
