IU-V demands that the green zone of the San Cristóbal neighborhood be enabled as soon as possible after the demolition of the old Central Bank building next to Plaza de la Estrella (12/07/2019)

Sosa says that should be probed among the neighbors what to name the Plaza and argues that among the neighbors that IU has consulted by three names: Paso Encarnado, Plaza Rabaleros and Plaza Cristo de la Sangre

The municipal spokesman of IU-Greens, Pedro Sosa, said this morning before the media that one of his first requests for municipal investment to dignify and beautify the city will be the creation of the green area on the site that has been Free after the demolition of the old buildings located next to the Plaza de la Estrella and in front of the Plaza de Abastos of the San Cristóbal neighborhood, between Eulogio Periago and San Fernando streets.

Sosa affirms that the creation of a green zone in this urban space has been claimed by IU for almost a quarter of a century, when in the mid-nineties the councilors of IU, Antonio Pujante and Enrique González, agreed with Mayor Navarro a series of investments in districts and districts of Lorca.

The mayor of IU recalls that some points of that agreement were met, such as the construction of the Tanners Park located behind the Sacred Heart school, but others were postponed and they had to spend 25 years to demolish dilapidated buildings and be able to have a open area that opens many possibilities for urban regeneration at one end of the neighborhood.

The Councilor of IU also asks the new municipal corporation to accelerate the development of this area of Lorca, and remove any obstacles that exist to unlock the construction of the Health Center of the neighborhood in the block located between the streets Eulogio Periago, Pedro Soler and San Fernando.

Regarding the green zone, the council of IU has advanced two issues that poses to the new local government: first that the plaza to be designed is carried out with solidity, with viable trees that have a significant bearing that generates shadow areas, and with the election of street furniture that is not flimsy.

On the other hand and for what it does to the name of the new Plaza, Sosa anticipates that it should be probed to the neighbors of the neighborhood so that the election of the name is as democratic as possible.

In this sense, he says that after commenting on small groups with neighbors, they have raised three names: Plaza Encarnado, Plaza Rabaleros and Plaza Cristo de la Sangre, but that the name should be extended to more neighbors.
