Gloria Martín has proposed the creation of a contest in which a committee of experts and the neighbors themselves, through the municipal website, choose the bands that will play in the program of free concerts, which will be rewarded with prizes between 500 and 1,000 euros

The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes, Gloria Martín, has asked the municipal government team to bet on the local musical groups when designing the program of free concerts of the Fair and Festivities of Lorca 2019.

For Martin, this initiative would suppose a gesture of support to the artists of the municipality.

Therefore, it has suggested the implementation of a specific call and the authorization of a space on the municipal website where the bands and soloists can consult the bases and register until August 15.

The municipal website would also be the tool for Lorca, through their telematic vote, could choose the winner or winners of the contest, which would get a reward of one thousand euros.

A committee of experts formed by members of the Department of Celebrations, the Council of Youth and the association 'Musical Heritage and Friends of Music' of Lorca, would be responsible for the selection of the rest of artists, whose prize would be 500 euros .

For Martín, there is enough time to start up this participatory fair model if the municipal government team is already "hands on".

In addition, it would suppose a considerable saving for the public coffers.

But, above all, it is the perfect occasion to promote the "excellent quarry" of local artists that Lorca has.

In that sense, Martin recalled that last year, the current councilman of Celebrations, José Ángel Ponce, claimed from the opposition a more prominent and specific space to promote the talent of artists and groups Lorca, as well as during the day fair .

"Now he has the opportunity to make it a reality from the government," said Martin, who said that for the launch of this initiative will have "all the collaboration and support of Izquierda Unida."
