The PP proposes to speed up the project of integral improvement of the street Portijico and accelerate its execution to provide the neighborhood with a new green garden area (17/07/2019)

• Fulgencio Gil has stressed that the Popular Party awarded the consolidation works of the existing retaining wall and began the expropriation of the site.

The Spokesman of the Popular Group in the City of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, proposed this morning that the City Council expedited the project of integral improvement that already left the Popular Party, and that contemplated the consolidation works of the existing retaining wall, having started also the procedures for the expropriation of the site.

We are talking about a comprehensive intervention for urban improvement in the vicinity of Portijico Street that will allow the consolidation of the existing retaining wall, the creation of a new green area on the current site and the renovation of Gregorio García street.

From the PP get forward the start of the processing of the procurement file relating to the works of stabilization of the wall located on the site between Gregorio García and Portijico streets, located in the Barrio de San Cristóbal, a performance to which we added the Expropriation of the existing site to provide the neighborhood with a new green area with vertical garden, following the model that has given such good results in the Plaza de la Hermandad de la Curia.

Fulgencio Gil said that with the consolidation of the wall and the slope of Gregorio Garcia street we fulfilled our commitment to the neighbors, because it is a priority action that was important to start as soon as possible so that the families that resided were from their homes they can start the rehabilitation of the houses and can return to them as soon as possible.

This operation constituted a real challenge, given the complex procedure that has required, in which different municipal areas have participated, and the extreme complexity of the technical solution that has had to be articulated, also requiring the supervision of external experts.

The works that we propose to speed up consist of the stabilization of the existing reinforced concrete wall, by means of the execution of anchors to the ground, and its continuation until ending in another reinforced concrete wall of smaller height to secure the houses, and in which it has foreseen the increase of the same until the level of the street Gregorio Garci'a.

It should be noted that the execution period of the works is two and a half months, and we demand that everything be accelerated to the benefit of all the residents of the area.

In parallel, from the PP we also began the procedure of expropriation of this plot to build a green area in the heart of the Barrio de San Cristóbal.

This action includes the construction of a public park and a hanging garden with the aim of decorating the wall.

In addition, it includes, within the remodeling project of the street Portijico, a game to consolidate the street Gregorio García.

These actions are a new example of the commitment of the City Council to improve the quality of life and the urban environment of residents in San Cristóbal is firm and forceful.

Within this line of work, as a closer example, from the Popular Party was executed the demolition of an apple intended to make available to residents of a large green area with playground and parking thanks to the obtaining of a plot of 1,034 m2 located between the streets Eulogio Periago, Juan Mínguez and Beato Fray Pedro Soler.

In recent years over a hundred streets in the neighborhood of San Cristobal, have been the subject of investments, which include the integral improvement of the Calle Mayor and Ortega Melgares (715,000 euros), as well as Eulogio Periago (712,000 €) including the latter in a 7.5 million injection for the integral arrangement of a battery of 58 streets.

In addition to the indicated, other municipal works have allowed the improvement of other 46 streets in the same neighborhood.

It should be noted that in San Cristóbal the Charco street works have also been completed, responding to the commitment we expressed to the neighbors, involving an investment of 358,333.70 euros.

Another recent example has been the urban renewal of Charco y Adyacentes street, as well as the improvement of accessibility between the streets Ingeniero Agustín Betancourt and Mayor Pelegrín Rodríguez.

As for Charco Street, € 457,517.59 is invested.

The works allow to equip the neighbors with a rainwater collector that gives continuity to the existing ones in the high areas of the San Cristóbal neighborhood and the Mayor street, and connects them directly to the Guadalentín riverbed thanks to the opening of a new street. .

It must be taken into account in the street Charco is 80 cm lower than the adjacent parallel streets (Calle Mayor and Ingeniero Betancourt Street) and almost 2 meters from San Fernando Street, so that before any rain had been accumulating accumulations of rain.

On the other hand, the waste networks are also connected to a collector that runs through the river to the Lorca WWTP.

Up to now, an old irrigation canal was used, with no slope and partially flooded, for rainwater evacuation, also going through its interior waste collectors that lacked the appropriate section and slope.

To do this, two microtunnels had to be done, at a depth of 3.5 meters, which crosses San Fernando street and connects said collectors with the Guadalentín river.

The construction of new access to the Ingeniero Betancourt Street has managed to connect the entire San Diego area with the Calle Mayor Pelegrín in an accessible manner.

The work consists of stairs and ramp accessible to people with reduced mobility, saving the difference between the two streets with an accessible ramp.
