The Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, and the Councilor for Education, Antonia Pérez, have announced that next Monday, July 29, "Fun-T in summer", the summer school and social integration for disadvantaged families of Lorca that will take place at the San Cristóbal Public School.
The Mayor stressed that "the fight against the social exclusion of the youngest does not end with the school year. In summer, already complex family situations are added to the alteration of habitual routines such as changes in schedules and spaces or long periods without access to training activities. Therefore, given the urgency of the situation, we could not stay out of the way and we have worked tirelessly during these weeks to offer an alternative of educational leisure to these families, hence the imminent implementation of an educational space for integration and social equality ".
Mateos reported on the objective of the project "to create a playful place with educational activities that fundamentally seeks integration and social equality. We also want to provide these children with a healthy and creative use of their free time during the holiday period, in addition to facilitate the self-esteem and autonomy of each one of them by promoting equality and social integration.The main tool will be the game, through which the child achieves an integral development taking into account the importance of the game in the early stages of childhood, the safest way to give them self-confidence and independence, and to provide them with satisfactory relationships with others and their surroundings. "
The First Edil detailed that "in this summer school, which will be underway until the beginning of the school year, from Monday to Friday from 11 to 14:30 hours, there will be sports activities, body expression workshops, revitalization of groups and social integration in addition to cooperative games and school canteen, which will be provided by the same caterer catering as it does during the school year in this educational center. "
Mateos Molina explained that the choice of the school "is because it is one of those that meets the necessary characteristics, we remember that not all schools in the municipality have a dining room and, among those that do have one, one of those it is not making improvements during the school break months as some centers take advantage of these summer months to carry out conditioning actions at their facilities. "
For its part, the Councilor for Education explained that "in order to establish the criteria to follow as to which students would be the beneficiaries, from the City Council, we have contacted the Red Cross, Cepaim or Caritas to know the data of the possible beneficiaries of this service, data that we have collated with the Department of Social Services and, for now, we will have about twenty children. "
Antonia Pérez has also informed that "if these days we get smaller with these needs they can join the school."
Mateos recalled that "these activities, which include a dining room, are a priority for the new Government Team. A project for which its implementation requires prior planning that did not exist before our arrival.
