IU-Verdes Lorca asks Adespolorca to stop its attempt to twitch the livestock sector through falsehoods (25/07/2019)

Councilwoman Gloria Martín has denied that in the next plenary session a moratorium on the granting of new licenses to macrocebaderos will be debated, an initiative that is temporarily suspended while IU has agreed with the Government team to reactivate the table of reconciliation of residential and livestock land uses that will meet this afternoon

The councilor of the United Left - Greens in the City of Lorca, Gloria Martín, has appealed to "calm" and "responsibility" against the "incendiary" messages launched by Francisco Román, president of Adespolorca, the Sanitary Defense Association of livestock in Lorca.

The mayor regretted that people with important responsibilities in the sector are dedicated to “lying” and “haranguing” the farmers with the aim of “twitching” and turning this problem into a “pitched battle” between neighbors.

Martín explained that, on the occasion of the Plenary, Adespolorca has called on "all farmers" to participate in a concentration on the occasion of a "moratorium" that includes "the total stoppage of all files and all licenses" of cebaderos in the municipality, according to the call spread through social networks.

In this regard, Martin has denied that the ordinary municipal plenary of the month of July will discuss such a proposal.

"IU has provisionally resigned to put this measure on the table while we have agreed with the Government team to reactivate the conciliation table for residential and livestock land use."

A joint workspace that emerged at the proposal of IU, and that will resume this afternoon after more than two years of inactivity.

In this regard, the mayor of IU has highlighted the commitment of her organization to give "a new opportunity" to dialogue and the joint search for solutions.

“We aspire to understanding and agreement, because we understand the importance that this economic activity has for the municipality, but we also believe that it must be compatible with an orderly, sustainable and respectful development with our natural spaces, with the constitutional rights of people and that must generate an adequate redistribution of wealth, ”he said.

Only in case of not reaching a consensus, IU will resume the initiative because “we firmly believe that it is urgent to order livestock activity in the municipality, which has important consequences for the health and well-being of people and also for the Environment,” he said Martin.

The councilwoman of IU-Verdes reiterated the commitment of her party to update an "obsolete" General Plan of Municipal Planning, in force since 2005, which must be adjusted to the changes that have occurred since then and respond to the current needs of the municipality.

In order to make the necessary modifications, the regulations require the temporary suspension of the granting of new licenses for this type of farm.

Unlike the information disseminated by the leaders of Adespolorca, if applied, this moratorium would not affect the files or licenses already under administrative processing.

In the same way that he described as “recklessness”, affirm that from the City Council the livestock farms are closed ”.
