The Councilor for Security of the City of Lorca, José Luis Ruiz Guillén, has reported a rescue operation of a dog, which had been thrown into a container, carried out by agents of the Local Police of Lorca during yesterday afternoon.

The Edil explained that "to the Local Police Station arrived late yesterday afternoon several calls that warned of the existence of a dog trapped in an underground glass container of Portijico Street, in the Barrio de San Cristóbal" .

Ruiz Guillén has detailed that "immediately several police officers moved to the place where they confirmed the event and, unable to open the container, chose to make a loop of knot sliding with the patrol rope. A decision that, after several attempts, it worked and they managed to get the puppy out of the place. "

The Councilor for Citizen Security has indicated that "the dog was transferred to the premises of the Municipal Emergency Service to provide water and food and is already in a temporary shelter where it will remain until it is adopted in the next few days."

In addition, the Edil recalled that "the abandonment of animals is penalized. Specifically, it is under the protection of Law 6/2017, of November 8, on the Protection and Defense of Pets of the Region of Murcia that Its purpose is to achieve the highest level of protection and welfare of pets and to favor responsible possession and more civic behavior of citizens in the defense and preservation of animal rights to avoid situations of animal abuse. And, this law it also includes economic sanctions, fines ranging from 100 euros to 30,000 euros depending on the seriousness of the event. "
