The young lorquina Alba Guerrero García, with her work entitled "Flamenco in the city of Lorca", won the contest called for the election of the poster that will serve as an image and representation of the XXIX edition of the International Festival of Flamenco Singing "City of the Sun "from Lorca.
Alba Guerrero García, has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Murcia.
In 2012 and 2018 he specialized with masters in management and research of cultural heritage and in diagnosis of the state of conservation of historical heritage.
She has been a beneficiary of international practical and professional training programs in document conservation and old photography, such as Leonardo da Vinci, Eurodysea and Erasmus.
He obtained the Culturex Scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of Spain to study cultural management abroad, which he developed at the FundaÃ§ao Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon.
He is currently doing his doctoral thesis in the History, Geography and History of Art program at the University of Murcia.
The second prize was obtained by Cristóbal Rodríguez Martínez, from Cehegín, who presented himself to the contest with his poster, "Lorra Guitar".
He also holds a Fine Arts degree in 2018 from the University of Murcia.
The third prize, corresponded to Pedro Meca Jiménez with his poster entitled, "City of the Flamenco Sun".
Pedro Meca is a lorquino, illustrator and professional graphic designer who develops his activity in the city of Murcia.
The first prize is endowed with 500 euros, the second with 250 euros and the third with 125 euros, plus two tickets to attend all the days of the Festival.
They also get a mention and two tickets to the Festival, the other semi-finalists classified until the tenth place.
This is the second time that La Peña Flamenca Ciudad del Sol has called a contest to choose the poster for one of the events it organizes.
This time the number of participants has been exceeded and also the origin has been more diverse.
In addition to local artists, works from Murcia and province, Valencia, Madrid, Segovia, Barcelona and Seville have attended the contest.
The jury commissioned to evaluate the works issued its opinion on Tuesday, August 27.
This jury was formed, by the Peña Cultural Flamenco City of the Sun, organizer of the contest, by its president, Cayetano Padilla, in addition to other components of the board.
On the part of the City Council of Lorca, as sponsor, the Councilor for Culture, María Ángeles Mazuecos and José Ángel Ponce, Councilor for Festivities, as well as the Festival's preacher, María Antonia Garcia Giménez.
It also integrated the jury, technical staff of the town hall and the field of journalism and communication.
The jury, when issuing its opinion has taken into account two fundamental aspects.
On the one hand, the fulfillment of the thematic and technical precepts that required the bases of said contest:
-Flamenco singing as a musical, cultural and centennial event.
-The city of Lorca as a land of tradition and fondness for flamenco
-The city of Lorca sponsor and host of the Festival.
And on the other hand, the jury has also valued the artistic, creative and compositional level that the works presented gathered.
