The Popular Party proposes that the Lorca Fair has a schedule free of noise and loud lights so that children with autism or asperger can enjoy it (02/09/2019)

In fact, many Spanish cities already have actions of this type, which have offered an excellent result: "instead of unbearable noise, we hear the laughter of children"

The Councilor of Celebrations of the Popular Party in the City of Lorca, María de las Huertas García, has proposed the establishment of a schedule free of noise and light during the next Fair and Festivities of September to favor children with autism, Asperger syndrome and that present other disorders of the autistic spectrum, or that simply do not have a good time with the high noise level of the Huerto de la Rueda fairgrounds, can enjoy our Fair and Festivities.

We are talking about children with autism who often have high sensitivity to noise and strident lights.

We must point out that in the case of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), one or more sensory systems are affected in such a way that the usual sensations are perceived with intolerable intensity.

Unfortunately, the mere anticipation of the experience can lead to intense anxiety or panic, something we are willing to avoid by launching this initiative.

Mari Huertas García has indicated that the Popular Party proposal proposes the establishment of hours without noise, high volume or lights in the Huerto de la Rueda fairgrounds to favor the inclusion and enjoyment of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and Asperger syndrome, something that many older people also request.

We consider it ideal that this noise-free schedule coincides with that established to use the popular tickets given to schoolchildren.

This measure has already been implemented in cities such as Écija, Alcalá de Guadaira, Almería, April Fair of Seville, Toledo, Murcia, Marbella, Alcalá de Henares, Talavera de la Reina, Algete, Zaragoza, San Sebastián de los Reyes, Lucena ...

It should be noted that many people with Asperger or other autism spectrum disorders, especially during childhood, suffer from phenomena of hypo and hypersensitivity to sensory stimuli, which are specified in hyperacusis, misophony and phonophobia. Hyperacusis is what we commonly know as sensitivity auditory, that is, hypersensitivity to loud noise.

Hyperacusis is a greater sensitivity than others to sound, can be at certain frequencies or ambient noise and is a disorder that, according to various studies, affects between 9 and 15 percent of the population.

Other difficulties that may arise who has this special and specific sensitivity would be to be stunned by loud noises or have difficulty concentrating when there are them or to be confused with certain types of lighting.

Mari Huertas García has explained that the clinical observation and testimonies of people with autism and / or Asperger's Syndrome suggest that there are three types of noise that are perceived with extreme intensity.

The first category is sudden, unexpected noises, which an adult with Asperger's Syndrome described as "stabbing," like a barking dog, a ringing phone, someone coughing or snapping a pen cap.

The second is a high pitch, a continuous noise, particularly the noise of the small electric motors used in kitchens, bathrooms and garden equipment.

The third category are puzzling, complex or multiple sounds, as in department stores or the noise of social gatherings.
