The City of Lorca insists on the need to end the seasonality of hiring after the rise in unemployment in 159 people in August (03/09/2019)

Unemployment has been increased in all sectors, the most pronounced being registered in services, where 120 people have lost their jobs due to "the end of summer contracts."

The Councilor for Local Development and Employment of the City of Lorca, Isabel Casalduero has assessed the unemployment data for the month of August.

In the municipality of Lorca, as in regional and national level, the numbers show a total of 159 more unemployed at the end of August.

Specifically, August closed with 4,684 unemployed, unlike the 4,525 registered in the month of July.

Despite this increase, Casalduero points out that "unemployment remains lower than that registered during the same month of August of 2018, which closed with 334 more unemployed, standing at 5,018".

According to the Councilor for Employment the increase in unemployment has been registered in all sectors, the most significant being that of the services sector that has closed with 3,067 unemployed, and where 120 people lost their jobs during the last month due to the termination of contracts of the summer period.

Casalduero has also pointed out that unemployment has also increased by 23 people under construction, standing at 304 unemployed, 10 people in the group without previous activity that reaches the figure of 322 unemployed and six people in industry, up to 410. The Unemployment remains at 581 unemployed, same figure with which it closed the month of July.

By age, the local Local Development has reported that the greatest rise has occurred in the age range between 25 and 44 years from the 1,890 registered in July to the 1960s with which it has closed August.

The number of unemployed has increased by 64 people in the segment older than 45, which stands at 2,388.

In those under 25, 25 people have signed up for unemployment, whose data has gone from 311 unemployed in July to 336 in August.

The councilor explained that this is a rise in the rate of negative municipal unemployment, a general increase that has led to the national increase in unemployment data since 2010, so it is "necessary to continue applying new policies of training, employment and promotion of labor incorporation to reduce the number of unemployed in the city. "

As we have reiterated on numerous occasions "one of the main objectives of the Government team is to create job stability, end the seasonality of hiring and improve the quality of contracts that are formalized, which allow us not to have to talk about new promotions of unemployment in our municipality.
