The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, has taken stock, this morning, of the damages caused after the rainy episode of the last days in the municipality of Lorca.

The mayor of Lorca said that this morning it has been possible to resume normal activity in schools, municipal buildings, and health centers, among others.

And it has affirmed that "the damages by the rains have been numerous, according to the initial valuation, although we are still waiting for the definitive data, since they are still evaluating different areas in which the rain caused more problems, such as Campillo or Purias. "

Mateos stressed that "all the staff of the Local Police and Emergency Services, as well as Civil Protection volunteers and other members of the Special Emergency Device for the arrival of DANA have been involved in their work during this rainy episode ", and has specified that in addition" there have been hundreds of actions that have been carried out by individuals in collaboration with the different pedáneos who we also want to thank for the fundamental collaboration they have given us. "

In the deputation of Campillo, during this weekend, nine shovels and five trucks have worked, in addition to the work done through tractors and machines in other districts, with the aim of adapting the land and opening evacuation routes of stagnant water , "some work that we hope can be completed in the next few hours. Work to which we must add the 98 actions carried out from Works with the help of 10 companies.

Through the municipal cleaning company, Limusa, small trawlers have been removed by hand with personnel and vans in different streets and other large-scale ones with mini and mixed shovel type machinery.

Many of the workers who were not on duty went to their jobs voluntarily, which allowed a crash action to be carried out and to minimize the consequences.

Aguas de Lorca has also been throughout the rainy episode facing several incidents, pumping infrastructures and drinking water reservoirs have been reviewed, in addition to monitoring by remote control of consumption by sector to detect possible failures.

So far, 36 failures caused by the rains have been recorded, 10 of them in the coastal districts, 4 in the high districts, 10 in the southern ones, 3 faults in La Hoya, 3 in the Campillo area, 3 in the Diputación de Río and another 3 in the Torrecilla area.

From Friday in the early hours, work has been carried out with buckets with vats in the streets where less intense and round trawls accumulated.

In all the affected areas our high-volume sweepers have been working, as well as in the rest of the streets and crossings.

Mateos has specified that "since this morning, we continue to carry out work of cleaning and mechanical sweeping in various affected areas, and will continue to be flushed continuously every night, reviewing and servicing all the streets that need it."

The Municipal Electric Service has also been working during these days attending the different notices, 24 hours a day, to avoid further complications.

In Health there have been no incidents due to the rains and this morning the health care was restored, which had to be interrupted during the day on Friday as many of the professionals coming from Murcia could not reach their jobs.

Due to this rainy episode, the Social Services have had to carry out the relocation of two families, one from the village of La Campana and another from Cañada Morales.

In Education, during these last days all the educational centers have been visited to check their status and in some of them, as is the case of Purias, Virgen de las Huertas had to make bilges, and in the Campillo park, park the parking lot with sand.

In Culture, all personnel have been available to the City Council during these rainy days, many of them preventing water from entering municipal buildings.

From the Department of Tourism it was also decided to paralyze the activity that is carried out in the Fortress of the Sun and in the Synagogue, due, above all, to the detachment of stones on the road down the Castle.

In the historic center there have been a total of 21 urban interventions, especially due to small landslides of elements of old buildings caused by rain.

But there were also drains in La Campana in the basement of a house in which about 500 m3 were evacuated and before another 700 m3 of the plot through which the basement had to be accessed.

Also in the IESO of Purias, where about 500 m3 were evacuated, working simultaneously five bilge equipment.

From the Emergency and Civil Protection Service there have also been various landslides and sanitation of various branches and removal of stones and telephone pole.
