About thirty participants will participate in the 24th edition of the Marathon 'Lorca, Ciudad del Cuento' (26/09/2019)

The event will include the participation of the Mayor of Lorca, representatives of associations, politicians, journalists, athletes, grandparents, youth, children and the collaboration of Lorena Rincon, sign language interpreter.

The Councilors of Education and Celebrations of the City of Lorca, Antonia Pérez and José Ángel Ponce, presented this morning the twenty-fourth edition of the Marathon 'Lorca, Ciudad del Cuento'.

Pérez has announced "the celebration of the 24th edition of the already traditional historical storytelling marathon that has been held coinciding with the Fair and Festivals of the city since 1996 continuously and that this year will take place next Friday, September 27 , from 18 hours, in the Alameda de la Constitución ".

The Councilor explained that "it is an initiative more than from the Municipal Library Network is carried out with the objective of raising awareness of the importance of stories in the development of people and transmitters of culture, while preserving the tradition of oral narration in families. "

Pérez Segura has detailed that "one more year, we are working on the involvement of the city in this festival of reading and storytelling and, therefore, we will have broad representation of different social groups starting with the mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, who will inaugurate this day, representatives of Lorca's associations such as Apandis, Lorca Biciudad, Scout Group, Lorca Females Sports Association or Cazalla Intercultural, as well as politicians, journalists, athletes, grandparents, youth, children and the collaboration of Lorena Rincón, language interpreter of signs.

The Edil has highlighted the importance of promoting the habit of reading in children and has encouraged children and adults to participate "in this beautiful activity that has been consolidated over time. An initiative that was devised alongside the lorquino actor Juan Pedro Romera, specialist in oral narration, with the intention of participating in local parties, of taking out the library to the street, outside their spaces, framing this marathon in the activities that for the promotion of reading are developed throughout of the year".
