The PP obliges Deputy Mayor Paco Morales to clarify before the City Council Plenary why he left Lorca during the red rain alert and where he was (01/10/2019)

The popular demand that the Councilor of Citizens clarify his whereabouts during the days of heavy rains, given that he was not in the city, did not even accompany his head of regional ranks, Isabel Franco, on his visit to the affected areas and the testimonies of neighbors of Lorca that place it even outside the Region are a clamor.

The Councilor of the Popular Party in the City of Lorca, María Belén Pérez, has informed that the next municipal plenary session will include a question addressed directly to the Councilor for Citizens and current Deputy Mayor of the city, Paco Morales, to clarify once the Plenary, and on the way to all Lorca, where he was and what he was doing between September 13 and 15 in which our municipality suffered one of the worst catastrophes of recent years and for the first time had issued a red alert.

Pérez Martínez has stated that, given that his absence from the Municipality is confirmed during these days, and that on all the occasions he has been asked about the subject, he has tried to dodge it without clarifying the testimonies that place him in another place even outside the Region of Murcia, Paco Morales will have to clarify in the Plenary Session of the City Council where he was.

Citizens ceased its General Director of Emergencies for going to the Theater for 2 hours. Is it going to "swallow" for a Vice Mayor to leave his city for 3 days?

From the PP have stressed that we would not have had to reach this extreme, in fact we have given him the opportunity to clarify this issue repeatedly, but instead of acting responsibly and explaining where he was, keep trying to get anyone to know his whereabouts during these days.

We are talking about serious facts that constitute a scandal among public opinion that demands a clear response.

The councilor of the PP recalled that between September 12 and 15 our municipality suffered the serious effects produced by the Isolated Depression - or Atmospheric - in High Levels (DANA).

From 23:00 on the 10th, the State Meteorological Agency and the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia had been alerting local administrations and citizens about adverse phenomena of RED LEVEL, this exceptional circumstance being in our territory because it had never before decreed a warning with this scope and danger.

The neighbors of Purias, Campillo, Torrecilla, Aguaderas, La Listen, Pozo Higuera - La Campana and Almendricos, among others, have suffered the worst consequences of this catastrophe.

Flooded homes and plots, razed fields, agricultural and livestock farms severely affected for the development of their activity, waterlogged and impassable roads and crossings, private vehicles and deteriorated or directly unusable agricultural and livestock machinery.

In addition, at dawn from Friday 13 to Saturday 14 the strong storm that unloaded with virulence one of the largest hailstorms known to date increased exponentially the damage they had suffered the previous days in these areas of the municipality.

In these exceptional circumstances, and given the magnitude and scope of the tragedy for thousands of Lorca families, the mayor and the rest of the councilors, both the government and the opposition, we have been available to those affected on the ground, accompanying them in at all times and fulfilling our corresponding obligations, as it cannot be otherwise.

All, except the Councilor for Citizens, Mr. Francisco Morales González, who holds the vice mayor's office and the maximum responsibility in the management of the municipal companies by delegation of the mayor;

municipal companies whose action is key during the course of any catastrophe and whose media management is necessary to mitigate and minimize the effects produced in the population.

Paco Morales, also absent from the Governing Board on Friday, September 13

In spite of showing such responsibilities, Mr. Morales was absent from the Municipality during the whole of those days: He did not attend the Governing Board held on Friday the 13th at 9:45, in full red alert, as stated in the minutes of the session, he did not accompany, at any time, any of the municipal services whose responsibility he holds, he did not even accompany the vice president of the Regional Government and head of ranks of his party, Isabel Franco, in the visit he made to the flooded areas on the morning of Sunday, September 15, and also in which, that same morning, President Fernando López Miras made and in which he should have replaced, in the exercise of his office, Mr. Mayor D. Diego José Mateos.

It only appears that, on the afternoon of Monday 16, once the atmospheric phenomenon had ceased and the red level alert had been canceled, Mr. Morales comes only accompanied by members of his team and in moccasins to make the Photo in the immediate vicinity of a well-known sports club located on the old Eagles road, and publishes it in its social media accounts, with three other photos in which it does not even appear, and that had been made and published days before by the Police Local, saying "We've had very hard days ..."
