The Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget of the Regional Assembly has unanimously approved a motion of the PP in which the Government of Spain is urged to approve a Royal Decree that halves the IBI receipts of 44,000 Lorca affected by earthquakes de Lorca, as well as transferring 3,000,000 euros to finance infrastructure works and services, municipally owned facilities and services, all of which are foreseen in the 2019 General State Budget project.
"There is no impediment, neither legal nor political, for the Government of Pedro Sánchez to discount 50% of the IBI's receipt to those affected by the earthquakes in Lorca," said the deputy spokesman of the Popular Parliamentary Group, María del Carmen Ruiz Jódar , defender of the initiative, which considers that the Socialist Executive "has only made excuses" for not giving the green light to this measure.
Ruiz Jódar recalled that "being in office, the Government of Pedro Sánchez has approved more than 40 royal decrees. The last one will be next Friday to help with 300 million euros to those affected by the bankruptcy of the tour operator Thomas Cook."
For the regional deputy of the PP, "Pedro Sánchez is the first president of the Government of Spain who turns his back on the Lorca affected by earthquakes," and has urged him to "continue with the aid established and that are so necessary to complete the reconstruction process ".
The "popular" parliamentarian has also pointed out that "the Government of López Miras has fulfilled its commitments to forgive the interests of those affected, while the Pedro Sánchez Executive is pending to do so."
"The city of Lorca and the people of Lorca have given an example of the capacity to rebuild an area that was devastated eight years ago. All that remains is for the PSOE Government to face and do its part," Ruiz Jódar concluded.
