This social and health event, which was inaugurated on Monday by the mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, is organized by the Poncemar Foundation and the University of Murcia.

The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, inaugurated on Monday afternoon the "III Conference of Fragility and Falls in Older Persons" organized by the Poncemar Foundation and the University of Murcia and which are being held until next Thursday, October 17 , in the Faculty of Social and Health Sciences of the University Campus of Lorca.

The mayor of Lorca has highlighted "the outstanding effort to organize these days in which one of the main groups of our society, the elders, who make up the social group plus numbers of our population pyramid and is justice that the public authorities we dedicate a good part of our activities to political, social and economic initiatives ".

Mateos has insisted that "we must treat our senior citizens not only from an economic point of view through pensions, but also by promoting their well-being through a social services system to address their specific problems."

These conferences that will take place in Lorca until next Thursday address with scientific, social, health, demographic and emotional criteria everything related to this group and will do so from a transversal perspective, focusing on the great challenges that Gerontology professionals they must face for the effective care and attention of the elderly.

Aging, the evolution of the senses, psychology, food, loneliness, depression, occupational therapy, care and chronic diseases are issues that will be discussed during this week so that the correct update and review of knowledge materialize in the improvement of praxis by socio-health professionals.

In addition to the mayor, the coordinator of Assistance Services of the University of Murcia, Diego García Ayuso, the general director of Universities of the CARM, Josefina García León, the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Health Sciences of the Campus of Lorca participated in this inaugural day , David Iyú and the Manager of the Poncemar Foundation and coordinator of the Poncemar Chair of Gerontology, Luis Martínez Muñoz.
