The Book Exchange Bank collects about 7,000 copies in this edition of 2019 (21/10/2019)

Reduce the expense that families have to make during the 'back to school', raise awareness about the importance of taking care of books and lessen the impact of printing copies for the care of the environment.

The Councilor for Youth of the City of Lorca, José Ángel Ponce, has taken stock of the results obtained in this edition of the Book Exchange Bank (BILT).

Ponce explained that "the expense of buying new books every year means an important effort for the families of the municipality, therefore, we are committed to facilitating this known as 'back to school' through the exchange of books given the primary savings that entails this simple action since the manuals for the course together with the school material are equivalent, in monetary terms, to a cost per child of between 300 and 600 euros for 60% of the students ".

The Edil has detailed that "in this edition, the number of books collected by the BILT has been 6,843 of which 4,087 have been delivered. In addition, in person, the Bank of Books has served 7,693 people and 824 demands of information by email. "

"In order to offer the best possible service, the web page search system, the book reservation system has been improved so that no blocked books could be left for more than 24 hours and a prior appointment system has been put in place to deliver the books left by students, "said Ponce.

Ponce Díaz has remarked that "the fundamental objectives of this project are three: to reduce the economic burden that each course supports families for the acquisition of textbooks; introduce in a practical way in the education of children the value of books and their importance, both in the educational and socio-cultural context as well as recycling textbooks and contributing to an improvement of the environment. "

José Ángel Ponce has assured that "our priority objective as a Government Team is to help, in this case, help parents, teachers and students to facilitate universal access to public education and, for this, initiatives of this kind involve important relief at the same time that it is committed to ethics and sustainability thanks to the reuse of books that avoid a greater expense of paper as well as the use of an agile and modern online platform for consultation ".
