IU-Verdes Lorca asks that two houses affected by the breakage of a water pipe in the neighborhood of Santa María be repaired (22/10/2019)

Councilors Pedro Sosa and Gloria Martín have warned of the worsening of the situation and have reported that on rainy days, like today, those affected suffer significant leaks.

"The walls and the tiling are falling apart," they said, in a situation that they labeled "dangerous" and "unhealthy"

The councilors of Izquierda Unida-Verdes, Pedro Sosa and Gloria Martín, have asked the City Council to respond to the claim of two families in the Santa María neighborhood whose homes have "damp, cracks and subsidence" after a year ago of a break Municipal water network pipe.

The IU councilors have warned of the worsening of the situation and have reported that on rainy days, like today, those affected suffer significant leaks.

"The walls and the tiling are falling apart," they said, in a situation that they labeled "dangerous" and "unhealthy."

Sosa and Martín lamented that the Mercantile Aguas de Lorca has not compensated these families, unlike what happened with the other three affected by the same problem.

"First they were exempted from responsibility because they argued that the alley where the pipeline broke down is privately owned, and now they are told that their homes were already damaged before the incident," they explained.

In this regard, IU-Verdes councilors recalled that both buildings were repaired after the 2011 earthquakes so "there are no more excuses that are worth".

Those affected, who tomorrow will file a property claim with the City Council, are tired of each other "passing the ball" and that their situation remains "forgotten."

In that sense, IU councilors recalled that in February this year the PSOE now in the municipal government was interested in this issue through a question asked in the Municipal Plenary.

"Now they have a great opportunity to show that their concern for these families was real and not a pose," they said while demanding "that their claim be addressed and that their homes be repaired so they can live" without fear of being fall on. "
