The PP asks the current local government to clarify where the municipal subsidy money received by the Citizens Party Group (28/10/2019)

This is 7,974 euros that the previous spokesperson for Citizens, Antonio Meca, chose to return to the City Council several months ago, after accusing José Manuel Villegas, Carlos Cuadrado and Francisco Álvarez of committing irregularities with party financing

The councilor of the Popular Party in the City of Lorca, María Belén Pérez, has asked the current local government to report the whereabouts of the economic surplus that the Municipal Group of the Citizens party chose to return to the municipal coffers, since it had not spent it.

This is the amount of 7,974 euros that the spokesman of the mentioned municipal group between 2015-2019, Antonio Meca, demanded to reintegrate the City Council.

Belén Pérez explained that Mr. Meca has made a series of complaints before the media, within the Municipal Consistory and before the Court of Lorca, in which he points out the existence of a series of alleged serious irregularities committed, according to Mr. Meca himself, by regional and national leaders of the Citizens party.

Among them, he directly indicates Mr. José Manuel Villegas Pérez (National General Secretary of the Citizens political party), Carlos Cuadrado Arroyo (Secretary of Finance of the National Citizens Party), as well as Francisco Álvarez García (Secretary of Institutional Action of Citizens in the Region of Murcia).

From the PP, given the seriousness of the facts, we demand to know if the City Council has already recovered the money indicated by the previous Spokesman of the Municipal Group of Citizens in the Municipal Consistory, as well as what verification actions the current municipal government has initiated to clarify this situation.

Lorca have to know where they are, or who is currently in possession, of the economic amount referred to in these complaints, and if the Municipal Citizens Group is currently receiving the corresponding municipal economic allocation.

In the same way, we demand that they clarify whether this City Council has official evidence of the judicial complaint filed on this issue against the interference of the Citizen Party and its regional and national policy makers, and whether these facts have been transferred to the Court of Auditors for required inspection.

The mayor of the PP has indicated that, among the background of this matter we must highlight the following:

As Onda Cero Radio reported on April 8, 2019, Onda Cero, "Antonio Meca claims that Francisco Álvarez warned him to stick to the consequences if he did not transfer money from the municipal group to the party."

The next day (April 9, 2019) the newspaper La Opinión de Murcia indicated that Antonio Meca refused "that the money from the municipal subsidy he receives be deposited in the accounts of the party."

And he affirmed that "on July 5, 2018, the regional leader of Citizens, Francisco Álvarez, asked him to make a transfer of money from the municipal group of Lorca to the party, showing the media the email that certifies it

On May 16, 2019, the newspaper La Verdad published on its Lorca page that: "Mecca (...) ensures in its complaint that its group receives 961 euros per month from the City Council for its activities, and that this money enters it into an account joint in which, in addition to him, the secretary general of Cs, José Manuel Villegas, and the treasurer, Carlos Cuadrado, are authorized, from that account 672 euros are transferred every month to another account of which only Meca is the holder and of which the expenses of the municipal group are paid. Meca denounces that he asked his party on several occasions to return to the City Council the part of his allocation that he has not spent, and that amounts to 7,974 euros. The still mayor of Cs has informed the court that, once the party knows that there is no legal obligation to return the money, it has stopped answering its writings, so it could be incurring a possible crime of misappropriation. "

That same day, the new digital media outlet was broadcasting an interview with Mr. Meca about it, detailing the facts even more:

- "Antonio Meca (AM):" I have not been expelled because of my ability or because of my ugliness or beauty, but because I have been repeatedly asking that the money from Lorca for Ciudanos de Lorca and that it has not been spent be returned. to the municipal coffers.

- nuevodiario.es (ND) With whom did you talk about this issue, that is to whom did you turn to tell them that this money had to be returned?

- AM: With Francisco Álvarez who is the Secretary of Institutional Action, or what is the same, the person who coordinates the different municipal groups in the province.

It was he who told me that the money had to be passed to the national account of the party, to which I told him, no, that that was illegal, that that money was destined to defray the expenses of the municipal group.

- ND: What did Francisco Álvarez tell you when you asked for the money back?

- AM: He told me literally: You're shooting yourself in the foot, you'll see what you do, there you.

- ND: You have already denounced this fact in court, that is, you have denounced that from Ciudadanos, the members of the account, José Manuel Villegas, and Carlos Arroyo, Secretary General and Treasurer respectively, have blocked the account and do not return the money to the coffers of the town hall of Lorca.

But if they don't, what is the next step?

- AM: I'm going to report it to the Court of Auditors "
