The PP denounces that the chaos in Limusa causes that they have not yet done anything to comply with the Law on Waste and Contaminated Soils in the field of bio-waste (13/12/2019)

The popular request that Limusa undertake the pilot project that was planned to raise public awareness about the need to separate bio-waste

The Councilor of Limusa in the City of Lorca by the Popular Party, Juan Miguel Bayonas, has denounced that the chaos that the current mayor and his responsible councilor, Mr Morales, maintain within the municipal cleaning company, Limusa, has degenerated in which the current local government has done absolutely nothing to comply with Law 22/2011 on contaminated waste and soil.

We are talking about a situation that we have already brought to the attention of the current Councilor of Limusa, Mr. Morales, who, given his many occupations and tasks, has not been kind enough to respond to the writings made in this regard since the Popular Party dated of July 16 and August 22 of this year.

We let them know, but they haven't paid any attention.

The PP councilor explained that Directive 2008/98 / EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, of November 19, 2008, on waste, and repealing certain directives integrating them into a single standard, establishes the legal framework of the European Union for waste management.

It was applied in Spain with Law 22/2011, of July 28, on contaminated waste and soil, which translates, in concrete terms, into which cities are required to collect at least half of the aforementioned bio-waste

Juan Miguel Bayonas, given the accumulated delay due to the lack of diligence of the current local government, has insisted on his request for Limusa to undertake the pilot project that was already planned by the PP to develop a test in the container areas of the Juan Carlos I Avenue, buzzing and informing all the neighbors at street level of the need to separate bio-waste in homes, depositing in a different bag the remains of fruits, vegetables, food, pastries, nuts, bread, fish, Seafood, coffee, infusions, cork, sawdust and matches, among other elements.

From the PP have recalled that we have managed to make Lorca a city that serves as a reference model to other municipalities in the management of all types of urban waste.

It has been an intense work, planned and whose execution has deserved the recognition of several institutions over the last years.

Now we want this work to continue, that it does not stop, and that is why we consider it essential that the procedures that we leave pending are carried out so that during the next year 2020 the municipal cleaning company, Limusa, collects at least 50% of the Total bio-waste generated by citizens with the aim of reducing the current dependence on landfills, and contributing to the comprehensive implementation in Europe of a circular economy model, taking into account the fact that waste is not garbage, but we are talking about resources that can be harnessed and socially profitable, generating wealth and employment.

From the Popular Party it is claimed that the City Council continue and materialize the forecasts already advanced in this regard to comply with this legislation.

It is a question that does not admit delay, and that has to be executed to serve as an example to citizens, within the task of social pedagogy in the matter of waste that has to be developed by all public administrations.

We are talking about a measure that has a positive impact on all aspects, but which has special significance in its social, environmental and ecological aspects.
