More than 1,000 children will participate, this Thursday, in the initiative "Carols in the street" (18/12/2019)

The objective of this activity, organized by the Department of Education and the Regional Union of Merchants of Lorca, is to boost the activity during these Christmas dates and involve the smallest of the house.

The Councilor for Education of the City of Lorca, Antonia Pérez, has presented, this morning, together with the Regional Union of Merchants of Lorca, the musical event "Carols in the street", scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, December 19, and that It will have the participation of more than a thousand children.

The Councilor for Education has detailed that "in this campaign, in which we have collaborated with the Regional Union of Merchants of Lorca, it is intended to promote the carols in the streets at this time of Christmas, we want to have many children in the streets enjoying of these dates, together with their relatives who will be accompanying them, which will also, without a doubt, help to increase the number of people in our streets. "

Pérez has highlighted "the illusion with which all the children of the participating schools have worked during these last weeks in the rehearsals of the Christmas carols that they will interpret in different streets of the urban area of ​​the city" and has wanted to thank them for their effort to offer an activity as endearing as we can all enjoy tomorrow, Thursday. "

The mayor of Education has pointed out that "in this event, in which some 1,100 children will participate and that will begin at 10 am, children from different schools of the districts of Lorca collaborate, although many children have not been able to participate because they coincide with activities that the centers themselves were already prepared. "

This activity will involve the Pilar Soubrier School with a total of 25 children who will sing on Juan Carlos I Avenue, (height of the La Tortada Building), the same place where the children of CEIP San Fernando will also be with a total of 50 students.

The San Francisco de Asís School will participate with 150 children who will perform Christmas songs on Corredera Street and 180 more than they will in the Theater Square.

The Plaza de San Vicente will be one of the stages for 100 children of the Colegio de las Mercedarias, while another 150 students of this same educational center will offer their Christmas carols in the Ruano Garden.

Around 50 children of the CEIP Virgen de las Huertas will travel to the Weekly Market on Thursdays, in the Plaza de la Estrella and in the streets Ortega Melgares and Caballón, about 75 students of the Juan González School will participate.

The CEIP San Cristóbal, up to a total of 75 children, will sing their carols on Europa Avenue.

In addition, during this week in the central squares of the districts, up to a total of 200 other students are also participating in this initiative "Carols in the street": this Monday, December 16, the students of the Colegio Nuestra did it in La Parroquia Lady of the Assumption, on Tuesday, in Zarzadilla de Totana and Zarcilla de Ramos, the San Miguel and Ginés Arcas Romera educational centers.

Today, Wednesday, December 18, the students of the Colegio Virgen del Rosario do it in Coy and tomorrow, Thursday, December 19, they will do it in Avilés and El Consejero those of the Andrés Manjón and San José del Adviser Colleges.

For their part, from the Regional Union of Merchants of Lorca, they have explained that "this initiative will allow us to increase the traffic of people and, of course, that businesses have the opportunity to become more visible. what we want is, with the help of cultural and leisure activities, to be able to raise public awareness that trade is also important for a city to be alive, cheerful and dynamic. "

They have stressed that "the reception has been wonderful, exceeding our expectations, so, next year we are committed to being able to do it for a week and with all the schools that want it, and even do some more activity complementing that effort" .

In addition, from the Department of Education and the Regional Union of Merchants of Lorca have thanked all the directors and heads of music of the schools for their collaboration, in addition to the effort made and the illusion shown.
