The councilor of Pedanías of the City council of Lorca, Antonio Navarro, has remembered that "from the City council of Lorca we will continue supporting the initiative that is being promoted from the High Pedanías of Lorca under the denomination of origin Tomillo Rojo".
The mayor of Pedanías recalled that "a few days ago we met with the association, recently created, which we asked to consider a project with the needs that we could cover from the City Council and after its study, our intention is to prepare a collaboration agreement in which we can get involved, within our powers to take this initiative forward. "
Navarro recalled that "the intention of the producers of Red Thyme from Zarcilla de Ramos, Coy, La Paca and Doña Inés, is that this aromatic plant receives the Protected Designation of Origin and that its cultivation helps improve the economy of this northern area of our municipality. "
The mayor of Agriculture has indicated that "the producers want to achieve a native variety and high value and performance that is distinguished from the rest, for this, representatives of this Association have also met in recent weeks with the Murcian Institute of Agricultural Research and Development and Food (IMIDA) with the objective of knowing the steps to follow to be competitive in the market ".
The councilor recalled the different uses to which these types of aromatic plants are destined, such as food, cosmetic or pharmaceutical.
