The 'Creators' project will promote entrepreneurship thanks to the training of 30 migrant women in theater, Spanish and skills development (26/12/2019)

The Cazalla Intercultural Association in collaboration with the Department of Equality of the City of Lorca, the Cepaim Foundation and the School of Adult Education 'Alto Guadalentín' launches this project that will begin on January 1 and is funded by the Social Work La Caixa .

The Councilor for Equality of the City of Lorca, Antonia Pérez, has presented with the representatives of the Cazalla Intercultural Association, 'Creators' a new project funded by La Caixa.

The mayor of Equality has explained that "The Intercultural Cazalla Association in collaboration with the Department of Equality of Lorca, the Cepaim Foundation and the School of Adult Education 'Alto Guadalentín' we launched 'Creators', a project, funded by the Work Social de La Caixa, through a program of interculturality and social action ".

Pérez has detailed that "this project, which will begin on January 1, 2020 and end on November 30, 2020, aims to promote the empowerment of migrant women through contact with local culture and theatrical creation, is to say, it is about harnessing the potential for creation and social change that women in the migrant community have. "

"A group of 30 migrant women will be created to carry out workshops on theater creation, Spanish and skills development with them. These workshops will also include the development of skills to promote entrepreneurship and, thus, support these women so that they can open small businesses and thus achieve independence and economic resources and can support other people in their community, while serving as an example and agents of change, "said Pérez Segura.

The councilor has shown that "in addition, different cultural outings will be carried out to put them in contact with local and regional culture and thus improve the perception of local inhabitants regarding migrants to prevent racism and xenophobia and to achieve moments of proximity between native people and immigrants. "

"The project also includes a training course for trainers that will include four main modules: interculturality, teaching Spanish for foreigners, entrepreneurship and theatrical creation that will be open to 25 professionals interested in the topics covered in it and will take place in the month of February, "explained Antonia Pérez.

Finally, the mayor of Equality stressed that "we will support the creation of two plays that will be presented to other women, both migrants and locals in different parts of the Region of Murcia throughout the year 2020, to promote interculturality and empowerment of women. "
