About 70 children are participating during these weeks in the "Christmas School to Conciliate and Coeducar" (03/01/2020)

The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, and the councilor for Equality, Antonia Pérez, have visited, this morning, the children who are participating in the "Christmas School to Conciliate and Coeducar", this week March for the Consistory of Lorca.

The mayor of Lorca recalled that this school started last Monday, December 23, with about 70 children, and with the main objective of providing reconciliation services for work and private life in our municipality, covering, for this, the care needs of these children between the ages of 3 and 12, in part of the non-school periods, while their parents work or receive training for employment. "

Diego José Mateos recalled that "another objective is to transmit to the participants attitudes and coeducational values ​​using games and artistic expression as educational means, to contribute to the elimination of gender roles and stereotypes, as well as to contribute to making visible the contributions of women in the development of family, community and society in general. "

Mateos has insisted that "one of the priorities of this Government Team is to apply policies and measures that allow the reconciliation of work and private life of the families of our municipality, especially for the professional development of parents also during the days in which your children enjoy school vacations and have no one to stay with. "

This 'Christmas School to reconcile and co-educate' is being developed, during these days the Christmas holidays, from Monday to Friday from 7:45 to 15:15 hours in the facilities of the CEIP San Fernando, next to the Municipal Pavilion of Las Alamedas .

For his part, Antonia Pérez stressed that "this program is promoted by the Department of Equality of the City of Lorca co-financed by the European Social Fund and subsidized by the Ministry of Women, Equality, LGTBI, Families and Social Policy of the Autonomous Community of the Region. It is also co-financed by the City of Lorca, through the Department of Equality. "

Pérez has pointed out that "in this Christmas School children are participating in different workshops and varied activities, such as games and presentation dynamics with a welcome mural, the development of a Collage on the importance of Coeducation, Stewardship and the Conciliation: The workshop of responsibilities and shared tasks at home and in the family, to sensitize girls and boys about the benefits of collaborating in the tasks and responsibilities of their families, especially about the benefits in well-being, equality and the equitable distribution of the uses of time in the family, as well as other workshops on coeducational stories, theater, sewing and costumes, recycling workshop, expression of feelings, workshop of women in history, as well as others on thematic Christmas. "

All children who are participating in this school are enrolled in the Centers for Early Childhood and Primary Education of the municipality of Lorca and are listed in the municipal register of inhabitants of Lorca.

Finally, the mayor said that "the Department of Equality is already working for the organization of the Summer Schools to Conciliate and Coeducar program that will take place during the month of July."
