The official figure of the number of inhabitants of Lorca grows to 94,404 people (13/01/2020)

"By age, almost 15 percent of the inhabitants of Lorca are over 65 years old, 17.2 percent under 15 years old and the remaining 67.9 percent is the adult population"

The Councilor for Statistics of the City of Lorca, Isidro Abellán, has released the official population figures of the city as of January 1, 2019.

Abellán has reported that "the official population of the municipality of Lorca is 94,404 inhabitants, 48,331 are men, 51.2 percent compared to 49 percent nationwide, and 46,073 women, 48.8 percent being the percentage in Spain at 51. Some figures that represent an increase of 1.4 percent of the population of our municipality with respect to the official figure of 2018, compared to growth in 0.6 percent of all the country".

The Edil has detailed that "by ages, almost 15 percent of the inhabitants of Lorca are over 65, 17.2 percent under 16 years and the remaining 67.9 percent is the adult population. that at the national level these figures stand at 19.3 percent in people over 65, 15.7 percent in children under 16 and 65 percent in the adult population. "

"As for nationalities, 77.4 percent of the population is Spanish and the remaining 22.7 percent foreign, with 10.7 percent being Moroccan and 4.2 percent Ecuadorian, with 7 being composed, 7 percent remaining by natives of 84 different countries. Data that in Spain are in 89.3 percent of the population of Spanish nationality and 10.7 percent of foreign nationality. "

Abellán Chicano has indicated that "according to the place of residence, 64.6 percent of the population of the city resides in the urban area, while 35.4 percent do so in the districts of the municipality. In addition, they have made more than 4,600 registrations due to change of residence and omission, while administrative and residence losses exceeded 3,500.

The Councilor for Statistics has explained that "these figures are obtained through a procedure that is established in the Law of bases of local Regime and in the Regulation of Population and Territorial Demarcation of Local Entities in which the National Institute of Statistics and the municipalities and it was on December 27 when in the Official State Gazette was published Royal Decree 743/2019, of December 20, by which the population figures were declared official as of January 1, 2019 ".

Isidro Abellán recalled that "the up-to-date maintenance of the data contained in the Population List corresponds to the citizens, who must communicate the changes that affect them, mainly the changes of address, all the procedures related to the municipal population register that are carried out in the existing decentralized offices in districts of Lorca and in the Statistical Service ".
