Lorca people pay € 9,000 in rentals for each month that the current mayor blocks the project for the social use of the former police station (17/01/2020)

The plan would allow to have a Young Space, provide the Popular University with a larger headquarters, open a 24-hour study room and a Ludoteca, in addition to saving € 90,000 per year on rentals.

Deleting it means having to pay Hidrogea the cost of demolition and losing the 5 million euros that the company financed to build the new building.

The President of the Popular Party of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has denounced that every month that passes without the Lorca people having an alternative use for the site occupied by the old police station in the Plaza de San Vicente, it costs us all 9,000 citizens Euros in concept of the rent that we are obliged to pay for the current headquarters of the company Aguas de Lorca, a figure to which we must now add the cost of another rental that we have to pay the Lorca for a supplementary place for the Popular University .

Fulgencio Gil has pointed out that we put on the table a project that solved several problems in one fell swoop, and almost 8 months later we continued to suffer the absence of a real plan for this matter.

Citizens do not deserve to see how the lot is filled with weeds and dirt due to the stubbornness and stubbornness of the current mayor.

We continue to consider that our proposal is the best option and we reiterate, as we already did both in June and in October, that they have to rectify their efforts to load the project.

We are willing to dialogue in this regard, as we have been since day one, but in the face of our proposals they respond to us with bad forms, contempt and arrogance.

We have also publicly denounced these things with reiteration, since we are fully aware of the need that relations between the members of the corporation must be governed by respect, and that is something we should never lose sight of.

It is not presentable that 8 months later they continue without presenting us with a real alternative for the social use of the site of the old police station, nor for the urban improvement of the environment of the Plaza de San Vicente.

There is no alternative proposal, nor is it expected, and in the meantime the vacant lot, raising dirt and the Lorca people losing a historic opportunity because of a local misgovernment that acts with its back to the people.

We have exposed this situation in the Board of Directors of Aguas de Lorca, where we have insisted that the solution on the table be respected.

What is irresponsible is to destroy a project just because it has not occurred to you, which is just what Citizens and PSOE are doing.

All Lorca people know at this point that the PP project for the plot of the Commissary is not only the only one raised with seriousness and rigor, but that it is the best for the city.

The planned improvement project for the Plaza de San Vicente includes the alignment of Lope Gisbert Street and achieving easy and convenient access to the underground car park,

Continue obstructing this project is a very expensive mistake, so we demand that you continue, since the City Council will then have to pay Hidrogea the amount of the demolition (approximately 90,000 euros), in addition to losing the funding already closed to build the new building (about 5 million euros), and we would also have to continue paying the € 90,000 monthly rent for the current offices of Aguas de Lorca.

It is an opportunity that we cannot miss for the good of Lorca.

From the purely social side, all entities also lose out, as is the case of the Youth Council (which was left with a large Young Space with 24-hour Study Classroom in the Plaza de la Virgen de la Amargura), as well as the Popular University, which could have extraordinary facilities.

In this way, in addition, the opportunity to provide more social movement and life to the historic center is also lost, since the transfer of people through San Vicente was going to increase exponentially.

We are talking about an investment of around 5 million euros to improve the confluence of Lope Gisbert Street with St. Vincent Square, within an ambitious plan that includes the improvement and change of existing access to existing parking and replacement of the building that housed the old police station of the National Police Corps, a space on which a new building with a basement for vehicle parking, ground floor, 4 intermediate floors and an attic floor on deck would be built.

The operation entailed the urban reorganization of this area of the urban area to offer a definitive solution to two substantial problems that suffer from the confluence of the Plaza de San Vicente with Lope Gisbert Street, in addition to solving the serious access problems that presents the public parking of San Vicente.
