The bishop encourages the laity of Santiago Apóstol de Lorca to "continue working for the Kingdom" (20/01/2020)

The pastoral visit to the area of ​​Lorca of the Bishop of Cartagena, Mons. José Manuel Lorca Planes, continued last Friday in the parish of Santiago Apóstol.

"The community has lived with great joy and festive atmosphere this visit, so, since his arrival, the faithful wanted to be with him and thank him," says Eduardo Sánchez Carrasco, pastor of Santiago Apostle.

After his reception, the bishop visited the Mother of God concerted school belonging to the nuns of the Order of Our Lady of Mercy (mercedarias) and also met with the community.

“The reception at the school was phenomenal, when leaving the parish the boys and girls were waiting for him, on both sides of the street, with pennants with their episcopal shield and they dedicated different songs during the trip to the center,†explains Sánchez Carrasco

Once there, Mons. Lorca answered different questions about faith, vocation and his work as a bishop, and encouraged children and young people to "always have their ears open to the Lord, following the example of Samuel."

In the afternoon, Mons. Lorca visited the sick in the area and blessed the facilities of the Lorquimur Foundation, aimed at the protection of Spanish historical, artistic and cultural heritage.

The day ended with the confirmation of 50 young people and 1 adult woman from the parish, who she encouraged to testify of faith in her surroundings.

On Sunday morning, the bishop continued his visit in the Monastery of Santa Ana and Santa María Magdalena of the Order of Poor Sisters of Santa Clara (Poor Clares) and then was at the headquarters of the Brotherhood of Paso Blanco to learn about the facilities, your museum and meet with the management team.

The visit concluded with a meeting with the different pastoral agents of the parish and the celebration of the seasonal mass, in which the diocesan pastor encouraged all the laity to “continue working for the Kingdom†and recalled that “as baptized, all Christians are called to spread the Word of the Lord. â€
