IU-Verdes-Lorca will ask in plenary that the City Council adhere to the "manifesto for the elimination of the parental pin" (21/01/2020)

The councilor of this formation, Gloria Martín, explained that this initiative has joined the Socialist Municipal Group, so it will be presented as a joint motion of IU and PSOE although, however, it will need the support of the councilor of Cs, Francisco Morales , to be approved

Through a motion, Izquierda Unida-Verdes will ask in the next plenary session that the City Council of Lorca adhere to the Manifesto for the elimination of the parental pin in the Region of Murcia that they subscribe, among thirty social groups, the Federation of Organizations of Women of Lorca and LOR + LGTBIQ locally.

The motion also intends that the City Council requires the Ministry of Education "the immediate withdrawal of the instructions that already apply, in fact, the requirement of parental / maternal consent for the assistance of students to complementary activities" .

This initiative has been added by the Municipal Socialist Group, so it will be presented as a joint motion of IU and PSOE although, however, it will need the support of the councilor of Cs, Francisco Morales, to be approved.

Martín explained that, in the opposite direction, the PP will defend another motion supporting the express authorization of fathers and mothers to these complementary activities of their children, in line with the requirements of VOX.

The IU councilor explained that the same controversy that now exists in the Region because of the parental pin already took place last year in the United Kingdom, where the Muslim community tried to stop teaching courses and classes in British schools about Respect for sexual diversity.

Finally, he recalled, the authorities that are not precisely communist - prevented him from imposing the reason and rights of minors.

"In the end it is the same, sectors that try to impose their religious morals on the values that are part of our democratic culture", such as gender equality, recognition of affective and sexual diversity, or the fight against all types of discrimination .

"It is surprising that those who oppose the content of our Magna Carta are precisely those who constantly hang the label of constitutionalists," he reproached.

Gloria Martín described as "bleak" that the regional government and its supporters have initiated a very hard campaign to curtail the right of children and adolescents "to develop their abilities to the fullest and be able to enjoy the freedoms and opportunities of a democracy."

In that sense, he recalled that the objective of public education is not only the transmission of knowledge and knowledge but also "of the values and tools that make possible the full development of personality and the effective guarantee of human rights."

"He who does not want that, is free to enroll his children in a private center and with his money I raised the vetoes he wants," he said.

Finally, the councilwoman of IU-Greens regretted that, meanwhile, public education in the Region of Murcia is in the "tail box" of the main indications on quality.

And this autonomous community has the third highest early education dropout rate in the entire country (23.1%).

It is also the third by the queue in public spending on education per non-university student.

"Our students are below average in the PISA exams on science, reading and mathematics and the government of López Miras what worries is to please VOX imposing vetoes and posing a very serious interference with the competences of the educational centers that we are not going to tolerate, "he warned.
