detail of Lorca

The ineffectiveness of the current local government causes a new delay of 6 months in the construction of the road between Camino Marín and Alameda de Cervantes (22/01/2020)

The local government has hidden that Adif lifted the temporary suspension of the works on July 22, establishing a series of changes with respect to the initial project that forced to terminate the contract with the winning company and re-tender the project

The Councilor for Works and Services in the City of Lorca for the Popular Party, Ángel Meca, has called on the current local government to accelerate the execution of the works that remain pending on the Marin Road.

We are talking about a project linked to the execution of urban renewal works in Alameda de Cervantes, which included the opening of a new road as the main novelty and urban contribution for the city.

It is a road that had to be already executed and serving the citizens, and whose route was parallel to the train track in the section between the Local Development Center and the level crossing of Camino Marín.

Ángel Meca has stated that the Lorca, after denouncing it from the PP repeatedly, we had to wait almost two years for Adif to deign to send the necessary permission to the City Council to complete the works.

But that permission came on July 22, 2019, a fact that has been hidden by the current local government, without us knowing why they have acted like this.

They have also hidden that the permit that Adif sent to the City Council included a series of changes that forced the termination of the contract with the winning company.

Thus, the current local government knew since July that it had to terminate the contract, something that has been delayed 6 months, and they did not do until last week.

Since the PP has explained that the PSOE instead of expediting the projects, is delaying them for not fulfilling their work.

All Lorca have witnessed how those who now have the responsibility to manage, developed a campaign of harassment and demolition against each and every one of the works that were done in Lorca with the PP, but when it is their turn, they demonstrate their clumsiness.

This is the consequence of not being aware of the important things.

They have to work harder and not commit these failures, which seriously harm Lorca.

From the PP they have explained that the unlocking would mean that the neighbors could have almost 90 new parking spaces, in addition to making possible the opening of a new internal communication channel for this area of the city, which will link Alameda de Cervantes with Camino Marín.

What the neighbors are waiting for is that the Government of Spain unlock the works as soon as possible.

We are talking about a performance for which we have been working for years, until we managed to find the financing that was required, the project that most benefited people and the achievement of all the permits of the different entities that were precise.

We believe that what was initially considered as a temporary suspension has been widely overcome, which we observe as it continues to be a serious obstacle to completing the integral transformation of the area.

It is a newly created road widely demanded by the residents of the area and that would contribute significantly to the flow of traffic.

According to the calculations transferred by the technicians responsible for the work, this blockade affects the management and improvement of more than 4,000 m2.

What we demand from the City Council is that they agree and arbitrate a solution that allows us to resume the works and conclude them in the shortest possible time.

This is a matter of mere common sense, since at this point, we know that the intervention in progress does not affect the informative study for the urban integration of the AVE.
